Wow, imagine that the director's son, the star? i don't really like will's son, not after that interview i saw. His mom was explaining why they were here to honour his father and he's all like 'i know why we're here!' i'm sure there's a more deserving actor. just leave the classic alone.
I think consplosive hit the nail on the head- just like the little stink on my hockey team that never got cut even though he sucked - cuz his dad was our hockey coach!!! hahaha
This is just an awful idea. JACKIE CHAN AS MR MIYAGI! JESUS H CHRIST PEOPLE! *VOMITS* But all the people just coasting through life will go see it because its something to do.
Karate Kid remake with Jackie Chan and some little black kid people only care about cause his dad was famous = bad movie idea. This seriously has to be a joke. I am actually offended by the idea of this movie.

This is just depressing. Classics shouldn't be remade, and especially not remade by a guy who's just starting to direct and casts his own son in the lead.
it will not be the same but with todays advertising machines it will be more popular and make more money than the first in the series. I think it should be called Karate Kid '' the new Kid on the block'' and just add to the franchise instead of trying to redoit.
Seriously, what could be better done that in the original movie? The cast was perfect ....and Jackie Chan? Kids please just go rent the original version. Also I support the people who say Jayden looks like an arrogant little prick. He thinks he knows everything and he's 9 years old. He's just like his father... who I also think is an overrated actor. I’m not saying he’s not good, I’m saying he’s Will Smith in every single character in 90% of his movies (not all of them).

Forget the Karate Kid... Aren't there much better classics out that they can ruin. Forrest Gump for example... Will Smith could be Forrest, his son could be young Forrest, and Jada could be Jenny... Queen Latifa could be Forrest's mom... Ice Cube Lt Dan... and Larry the Cable Guy could be Bubba... That would be the greatest movie ever.
What the hell? What a way to destroy a movie. And also, I don't mean to be racist here, but the lead character is meant to be Italian. Will Smith's son obviously isn't. What's next, a star wars remake with his son as Luke?
What does the childs being ' black ' have to do with anything? Lose the pillowcase moron.

I can't believe they're actually going to let this happen. No offense, but the classic can't be remade. It won't be the same, and I can only hope that if it is, there are no sequels.
No way the first karate kid was fine and they don't need to ruin it.

Will Smith needs to save his sons obvious talent for something else and something new.. theres alot of kids in the media jaden's age that are competetive.. kudos for will on starting a directors careers but the last person who posted is absolutely right.. it just wont be the same! Especially with the way the filming industry has changed... they wont record a series like this in the same way.. it will change the thoughts and roles, and may even push kids away from watching the older film if it blows.
As for Jackie Chan playing Mr. Miyagi thats just wrong! Jackie chan does not have the same personality, age or lifestyle that Noriyuki 'Pat' Morita had..
I'm telling you all, this is a bad idea.. If it can be pulled off I'd be surprised.. but since its only been about 2 years after the death of Mr. Miyagi (original) I think it's disrespectful.. and I'm a fan of will smith!
