Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, and her daughter Princess Beatrice attended a memorial service for fashion editor Isabella Blow yesterday (18.09.07)

The royals joined a crowd of almost 1,000 for the service at London's Guards Chapel, to pay tribute to Isabella, who committed suicide in May, aged 48.

The ceremony - poignantly held during London Fashion Week - celebrated the life of the eccentric and much-loved designer, who has been credited with discovering designer Alexander McQueen and model Sophie Dahl, among others.

The mourners also included the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who were accompanied by their children Lord Frederick Windsor, 28, and Lady Gabriella Windsor, 26.

The event also attracted celebrities including singer Bryan Ferry, actress Joan Collins, and supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour gave a speech at the service, while Tatler magazine editor Geordie Greig played a recording of a voicemail message from Isabella.

Isabella had been working as an associate editor on Tatler at the time of her death.

Bryan Ferry's sons Otis, 24, and Isaac, 21, closed the ceremony with a rendition of 'Gone Away, Gone to Ground' played on horns.
