Quentin Tarantino had to hitch a ride home in a truck after getting lost on a drunken night.
The 'Pulp Fiction' director had spent more than £1,000 on alcohol at a UK charity event in honour of his new film 'Death Proof' before leaving the Liverpool party at 3.30am.
He said: "Man, I had so much fun when I hitched a ride with this cool trucker dude.
"They were chanting my name so I gave them a wave and we started talking. I told them I was waiting for my driver to come find me and the trucker said he would give me a lift. Liverpool people are really friendly. I just jumped in."
Tarantino was in the city for the first UK public screening of 'Death Proof', when he heard about the party, which was organised to raise money for Alder Hey children's hospital.
He said: "When I heard people were putting on a party in my honour, I had to go. I love mixing with my fans."
The party featured a £800 'Death Proof' ice sculpture, which the 44-year-old director reportedly hacked to pieces with an ice-pick.
He then took to the stage and organised a twist dancing competition similar to the famous scene in 'Pulp Fiction' in which Uma Thurman and John Travolta jive in a 50s-themed diner.
