Acting as an overwrought fan of Britney Spears is a bigger Internet hit than the singer's own snippets of her dismal performance on TV last weekend.
The two-minute video featuring Gay performance artist, Chris Crocker, feigning real sobbing and screaming at the camera in heavy eye makeup and blond highlights has been viewed more than 2 million times and has received more than 30,000 comments since it was posted on YouTube on Tuesday.
"Leave Britney alone!" Crocker wails, repeatedly.
"All you people care about is readers and making money off her," he says, before shrieking, "She's a HUMAN BEING!"
Crocker, 19, who has discussed "This and That" and a scathing YouTube on "Coming Out of the Closet," calls himself "The New Christ" on his YouTube profile and cites Miss Piggy as a hero on his MySpace page. Chris-in-action
Crocker lays on the mock grief heavily. "She hasn't performed on stage in years. Her song is called 'Gimme More' for a reason, because all you people want is more, more, more, more, more! You're lucky she even performed for you!"
Despite the history of his gay performance art and monologues, Crocker writes on YouTube, "Yes, I was really crying. The one time I'm not acting, everyone says I am."
The tirade ends in a 15-second trail of tears following Crocker's passionate promise: "Anyone who has a problem with her, you deal with me, because she's not well right now."
