Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Beyoncé Knowles have been named among the world's best dressed women.

The glamorous trio joined Katie Holmes, Penelope Cruz, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz on People magazine's annual Best and Worst Dressed list.

People said: "Whether classic or continental, girl-next-door or glam these celebs made all the right fashion moves throughout the year."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were named one of the year's best dressed couples along with Gwen and her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale, pregnant Halle Berry and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and newlyweds Eva Longoria and Tony Parker.

David Beckham, Johnny Depp and George Clooney were noted for their sense of style in the men's list.

Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Emma Watson, Victoria Beckham and Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton were rewarded for their unique dress sense in a special British Accent category.

However, fellow Brit Sienna Miller was slated for her infamous black hot pants and tights combination which she wore to the New York premiere of her film 'Factory Girl'.

Avril Lavigne's frilly dress and combat boots combination failed to impress.

Janet Jackson and Kirsten Dunst were named as having the Worst Red Carpet Dresses of the year.
