Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's adopted daughter may have to undergo surgery on her hip.
Zahara, who the couple adopted from Ethiopia in 2005, reportedly has hip dysplasia - a hereditary disease that can cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis, and is commonly found in dogs - and her parents are said to be considering an operation that will cure it.
The condition means two-year-old Zahara's thigh bone is not properly connected to her hip, which may affect her ability to walk and she could need braces to help re-set her limb.
A source told America's Star magazine: "Brad and Angelina have talked with their paediatrician, who told them Zahara may need to have surgery. They will do whatever it takes to ensure she is happy and healthy."
When she was first adopted, Zahara - whose birth mother died from AIDs - was suffering from malnutrition and dehydration.
Last year, the tot was struck down with a mystery illness after she reportedly stopped sleeping properly and cried when she was put on her back.
It was thought Zahara may have had a genetic illness, but a number of tests failed to provide any definite answers.
Angelina and Brad have two other adopted children, Maddox, six and Pax, three, as well as 16-month-old biological daughter Shiloh.
