Madonna left husband Guy Ritchie's 39th birthday party carrying a 'Purple Penetrator' sex toy.

The 49-year-old singer was spotted carrying the "strap-on" sex aid in a clear plastic bag as she left London's Claridge's Hotel with the British director following dinner on Monday (10.09.07).

The item, which costs £30 from adult store Ann Summers, features a rubber fake penis which is attached to a pair of purple panties.

The Ann Summers website reads: "It comes with adjustable waist and back strap to fit all sizes. Comes with perfectly positioned vibrating bullet and is fitted with multi-speed battery box, just adjust the vibration to suit, and then clip to the waistband for total pleasure."

Friends of the couple say they are just happy to see them smiling again after a trying few weeks during which Malawian social welfare officials have assessed whether they are suitable to adopt 23-month-old David Banda, who they brought home with them last year.

One pal said: "It is the final legal hurdle in adopting David and they are so relieved it went well."

Officers are said to have secretly revealed Madonna and Guy - who have a seven-year-old son Rocco, while the singer also has a 10-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship - have passed the investigation and will be allowed to formally adopt David.
