Sharon Osbourne jetted 5,400 miles back to Los Angeles yesterday (11.09.07) to care for her sick dog.

The 'X Factor' judge flew into London at the weekend to see daughter Kelly's debut performance in hit West End show 'Chicago'.

However, she swiftly returned to the US when she was told her beloved pooch Minnie was seriously ill.

A source said: "Minnie is Sharon's favourite out of all her dogs.

"She was by Sharon's side constantly as she battled cancer. She just had to see her."

During Kelly's performance, Sharon - who is married to rock star Ozzy Osbourne - was seen weeping and most onlookers believed she was crying tears of joy over Kelly.

However, a source added: "She heard the news about Minnie at the theatre and was distraught. She was sobbing, and Ozzy was comforting her."

Minnie, a white Pomeranian breed, has made several television appearances alongside Sharon in British TV talent show 'The X Factor' and the family's hit reality MTV series, 'The Osbournes'.

A spokeswoman confirmed: "Minnie is gravely ill."
