Beyoncé Knowles has been told to tone down her forthcoming Malaysian concert.

The 'Crazy In Love' singer was asked by promoters to keep her show, which is due to take place in Kuala Lumpur in November, "family friendly" to appease Muslim critics.

Razlan Ahmad Razali, chairman of Pineapple Concerts, said: "We've informed Beyoncé's management about this issue of clothes, but it takes some of the fun out of it.

"Beyoncé won't be able to do the kind of show here that she does elsewhere. She's a fashion icon, and we know that she often wears miniskirts and clothes that expose her navel during her performances. It's a pity to restrict her, because her costumes are all tasteful and glamorous".

This is not the first time a US performer has been asked to tone down for a Malaysian show.

Last month, Gwen Stefani, who performed in front of 7,000 fans in Kuala Lumpur, chose to don a series of different flesh-covering outfits.

Her modest clothing fell in line with government rules, which stipulate female artists must be covered from their shoulders to their knees.

No, it's not a 'pity to restrict her'......if she wants to perform in countries who look at things differently, it's called RESPECT. If she doesn't want to do that, don't go there - I doubt it will cause her financial ruin. I think she is beautiful and a good performer, and she appears to be just as lovely inside as outside, so it shouldn't be such a burden to conform to these requests.

Everywhere you turn, no matter what country you're in, there's always a Muslim demanding that you cater to their needs and beliefs. If THEY can't respect US, why should we respect them? We're not talking about Malaysian beliefs here, we're talking about the Malaysian government wanting to appease the Muslims in their community. I'm getting beyond disgusted with the middle eastern religions demanding they get their way all the time.

p.s. her clothing is definitely NOT distasteful in any way. It's very glamorous and chic. what's next? wear a veil over your head and face, the muslims might be offended by the sight of it?

THE AUDIENCES SHOULD DEMAN BETTER MATERIAL FROM BEY AND NOT BE SO BOTHERED BY HER WARDROBE ..

If somebody is 'offended' by her, why are they going to her show? And why is it considered disrespectful to be yourself? Isn't it disrespectful for another way of life to insist you become one of them before they'll watch you on stage? I don't see any disrespect towards the Muslims if she isn't dressed the way they think a woman should. In fact, they're the ones being disrespectful for demanding she 'convert herself' to their vision of what a female is.

Is it too hard for people just to leave each other alone, and accept the fact that we're all different? Why can't people grasp this simple concept? It's your actions (and talents) and the way your treat others that truly matter, not what you look like, dress like, believe in, etc. This is such an immature request of Beyonce, or any artist. It's time to come out of the dark ages, and accept each other for what we are, not for what others force us to be.

She's the one going into their country - so play by their rules or stay home - when in Rome do as the Romans do. I'm sure there are things from other countries that wouldn't be allowed or approved in the U.S. as well.
Show a little less skin seems a small price to pay for the thousands she will reap from her performances there.
