Owen Wilson's lawyer has denied reports he took a drugs overdose.

An attorney for the 'Wedding Crashers' star confirmed police were called to the actor's Santa Monica home in a response to an attempted suicide after Owen slit his wrists, but denies there were drugs involved.

The lawyer also said Owen did not have his stomach pumped, and while he had been taking anti-depressants, his attorney was unaware of "any other drugs in his system at the time of the incident."

Though police reports confirmed Owen had "attempted suicide", the Santa Monica City Attorney's office have announced they will not be releasing the 911 call made in connection with the incident.

The City Attorney's office said in a statement yesterday (29.08.07): "In reaching this decision the City believes that in many instances no person should have to worry about whether placing a call for emergency assistance will automatically make his or her medical request open to public review.

"In balancing the competing interests, the City agencies outweigh the public interest served by disclosure of the emergency 911 call. In situation such as this, the City concludes that the public is best served if medical attention is promptly sought instead of being delayed because of a concern, real or imagined, of public attention, regardless of whether that publicity is sympathetic or not."

Meanwhile, actor Steve Coogan - who co-starred with Owen in 'Night at the Museum' - has denied allegations he supplied Owen with drugs, or encouraged him to use them.

Coogan told US TV show 'Access Hollywood': "My thoughts are with my friend Owen at this difficult time, but I do want to set the record straight and say that the allegations published today are completely and utterly false."

The British actor's ex-girlfriend Courtney Love - a close friend of Owen's - claimed Coogan was partly responsible for Owen's suicide attempt.

Love said: "Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't comment but I care too much about Owen. I went through this with Steve. I was just out of rehab and he was right there with the drugs. I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends."

Janet Charlton broke this story months ago as a blind item, a 'Who Dunit?' about Owen Wilson: 'This good looking leading man from an acting family - who often plays ''the boyfriend' in movies - has a secret drug problem. He's always seemed clean cut and the last one you'd suspect. Around six months ago he tried heroin and he LOVED it. Now he's a slave to the substance and his family is worried sick. This actor used to be very visible and social - dating some of Hollywood's prettiest women. Now all he cares about is getting high. His brother is terrified and the family is scheming to get him into rehab before it's too late.'
