Pete Doherty has been arrested for suspected drug possession.
The troubled Babyshambles rocker was detained in Tower Hamlets, east London, in the early hours of Monday (20.08.07).
A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed: "At 2.30am on Monday morning officers in Tower Hamlets arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of possessing drugs."
Pete and two others, an unnamed man and woman, were held at an east London police station after officers stopped the car they were travelling in.
The 28-year-old musician, who performed with his band at the V-Festival in Stafford late on Sunday (19.08.07), was ordered to quit drugs or face a prison sentence less than two weeks ago.
Pete, who pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine as well as two driving offences in July, was given four weeks to get himself drug-free on August 6.
District Judge Davinder Lachlar said at the time: "I will adjourn this matter until September 4 to assess his motivation. What I have in mind is a community order or prison. If he does not show the motivation in four weeks it will be prison - it's as simple as that."
Judge Lachlar previously ordered Pete - who was stopped by police in Kensington High Street, west London, on May 5 - to undergo a detox treatment at a hearing in July.

Hopefully he will go to prison, at least then I no longer have to tolerate the sense of deja vous everytime I read the news. Oh wait... there's still the failing Labour government to keep that going...
What's that? Released without charge...? I'm sure I've heard all this before.....
why hasn't someone locked this idiot up? I'm sure there are countless other people out there who are fed up to the back teeth of this talented(?) no mark getting away with this lifestyle. Lesser mortals get locked up why hasn't he? Save us all from the mess that is Pete Doherty and Babyshambles
I thought the post of Ed Jones was in humour from past experiences with this idiot. I have just seen the news. Once again this clown has got away with an offence. WTF !! does he have to do to get put away. He should be named the ' Teflon Bum '.......
he is gharbage any how!
Wow. They wrote that story like they were actually surprised.

Here we go again, anyone want to open the betting that another dopey justice will complement him on his `music` ( sorry to use that word in this context ) and send him back to rehab. A short, or preferably long stretch in the Scrubs will get rid of that ignorant swagger of his.
