Matt Damon was overlooked for the new 'Star Trek' movie for being too old.
'The Bourne Ultimatum' star called director J.J. Abrams after being linked to the long-awaited movie, the eleventh in the sci-fi series based on the original 60s TV show, but received disappointing news.
The 36-year-old actor said: "I kept hearing that I was going to be in the new Star Trek movie. So I finally called J.J. Abrams to ask him what they deal was and he said, 'No way, you are way to old.'
"They are planning on doing Captain Kirk and Spock from when they first left flight academy or whatever. Guys 15 years younger than me are playing the parts."
Damon - who has a 14-month-year-old daughter, Isabella, with his wife Luciana - also revealed he is keen to do a children's movie now he is a father.
He added: "Eventually I would like to make some. But I only respond to the material comes to me. If a great kids' movie come along I would love to do that."
