Brad Pitt tipped a security guard a staggering $300.

The 43-year-old actor, his partner Angelina Jolie and their four children were treated to a VIP tour of Chicago's Field Museum on August 11 and Brad showed his appreciation to the staff with a generous hand-out.

The museum guard who was left the substantial tip said: "They were a nice couple."

The family arrived at the museum after closing time and spent an hour perusing the extensive collection of dinosaur remains and fossils.

Brad and Angelina, 32, also joined their three adopted children, six-year-old Maddox, three-year-old Pax, two-year-old Zahara and their biological daughter, one-year-old Shiloh, in making wax dinosaurs with a special moulding machine.

The next evening, the couple got some alone time when they visited Avenues restaurant for a romantic meal.

The eatery made sure their experience was as intimate as possible, by closing a whole section of the restaurant so they could enjoy their meal in private.

Meanwhile, a source has dismissed rumours the couple are on the verge of splitting after a series of heated rows, one of which reportedly resulted in Angelina throwing a glass of wine over Brad.

A source said: "The rumours are totally and completely false. There are no problems whatsoever. Things are really good."
