Why are black people always walking around with a chip on their shoulder? Has any of them listened to their own people's music?? Black Rap artists are terriable! They put down Black woman all the time! I do not see any black woman sueing them? If this was solely about what Don Imus said then this would have been over a long time ago. No, Black people (not all) have managed to carry all this hate around for a very long time and have managed to pass this on to the next generation. All of us face remarks against us in our life. People are cruel, this does not mean black people are owed something because they are black. Protests against the 'N' word, getting the Rapper's to clean up their language. These are things black people should do to help the black community break free from all of this. Quit feeding the fire and start putting water on it!!

Hey Ken, good point! Like I said before, when somebody sues for what this 'individual' is suing for, they have to prove that the person 'slandering' them (libel and defamation as well), caused them harm to their personal lives or careers. Nothing negative happened to any of them because of this. And as another posted mentioned above, it is usually something that has been put in writing that has harmed the person. And he wasn't talking about 'her', he was talking about the 'team' Anyway, which one is she in the pictures? IS she nappy-headed? That wouldn't be slander you know.
Get over it! It was in April. He apologized! Let's move on if we want to 'restore our name'.
This is BS, if that girl wants to sue someone for making her look bad she should sue theses rappers that call women far worse names. This is just a money maker for her and her nappy headed family!

Really? Of course, you'll notice that instead of Imus, she goes after the networks because they have deeper pockets. Reading between the lines, this suit isn't about defamation, it's about a young woman asking herself whether there's any way she can turn the media circus surrounding Imus into a nice, fat court-ordered paycheck.
No,gatorman, Imus' remarks were specific. He specifically said the Rutgers Women's Basketball team. I think if Imus said they were ugly beasts and not made any comment that could be linked to race like 'nappy-headed', it would be a different story. I'm actually surprised she is suing, but I would tend to think that the greedy lawyers hounded her. Let's just blame her for all of this since she is black.
If she just wants to go back to being an 'normal student', filing a huge lawsuit that's destined for national publicity is not the way to do it. But if she wants to cash to make the best of her situation, good for her.

This IS ridiculous. This suit has no credibility and once it hits a jury it will be thrown out. At most Imus' people will offer to settle.

If these college girls think that this Imus comment has ruined their reputation and lives they may need many more lessons in life and need to continue their education for many more years. At this point this lawyer has come up with a way to get in the news and the athlete involved is after money money money. This will ruin her reputation more than anything any one could say about her.

OK, Don Imus screwed up. But this is exactly what is wrong with our society. This is just another frivolous lawsuit. The girls on that team were wronged, but this lawsuit makes - at least the girl suing - seem cheap and superficial.
Get a life lady. This just doesn't meet the definition of libel.
