earn your money by working hard

not by suing someone for calling you a name

everyone gets called names

the same names that hurt you also make you laugh with your friends

get over it

work up a sweat and earn your money the old fashion way

the lost work ethic...a sad commentary

Just when I thought the term 'Nappy Headed Ho's' was dying down, it becomes reinvigorated and spreads throughout the media world once again. If this continues it may just become part of my regular vocabulary. ;)

Geez, enough already

btw, Ms Vaughn is not Black, she's Green. $$$$$$$$$$$ Here's an idea, why not let her co-anchor Imus' show? As in Howard Stern and Robin?

Don Imus persuded litigation against CBS and was awarded...even though he ADMITTED to being wrong..sounds like Kia Vaughn is NOT the only one that has their eyes on the dollor! Imus should donate his $20 million settlement to help battered low-esteemed women! How is now EVERYTHING the fault of the INSULTED girl?? you people want to blame her and not try to understand that she and family including children recd DEALTH-THREATS from white Imus fans!!! Imus's OWN wife had to get on air and tell the thousands of red necks to STOP the INSANITY! She had to hire security and have her home watched by police..so now she gets punished for someone elses ADMITTED Mistake. Here you have to pay for you mistakes.

grab for it while you can ma'am... What'cha gonna do when it's all gone-go sue him again ? We're a sue-happy nation, and you waited 4 months to do this ? This reeks of pure simple greed, nothing more, nothing less. If you really care about making a statement Ms. Vaughn, then why not make a PUBLIC announcement that you FORGIVE Mr. Imus and show others what life is supposed to be about-forgiveness, not greed..

She waited to sue him until he got his new $20 million dollar deal.

It's not like anyone pays attention to a bunch of ugly lesbians playing basketball anyway. This got her more publicity than anything, even winning the national championship would have.

Too many hos, not enough sense

The very epitome of disengenuity.

This piece of trash never once in her life used the work 'ho' to mean an 'unchaste woman.' To her, it's a term she uses to refer to herself and her filthy friends. I'd bet money she didn't know the meaning of the word 'chaste' before her attorneys told her.

No doubt her defense will be that, since she has only had sex with other women, the commonly accepted definition of 'unchaste' will no apply to her.

Imus's attorneys should drag her dirty life out into the court for everyone to see. But from his past actions, I think Imus is too cowardly to actually fight the lawsuit at all.

Imus will settle out of court, and this chaste woman will enjoy the crack binge to end all crack binges.

So, if Imus can be sued for using words that depict women in undesirable terms, does this open up the market for lawyers to go after Rapers and Gangsters over the lyrics of the songs we hear on the radio and which are sold in stores across the country. Shouldn't everyone be held to the same standards?

This is why Don Imus sued and won: \'Just before his dismissal, Imus signed a five-year, $40 million contract with CBS. Garbus, a famed First Amendment lawyer, said Imus would sue for the contract\'s unpaid portion. He cited a contract clause in which CBS acknowledged that Imus\' services were \'unique, extraordinary, irreverent, intellectual, topical, controversial.\' The clause said Imus\' programming was \'desired by company and ... consistent with company rules and policy,\' according to Garbus. \'

So pretty much the fact the NBC put in there that they knew in advance that his show was controversial, and still desired it. They knew stuff like this would go on the air and it acknowledged in his contract therefore it is breach to fire him. Also, I think what he said was wrong however, How is the Rutgers women basketball tema receiving money going to make them look better in my eyes? Maybe if they gave the money to me....... Lastly, I am black. We are not all for going publicly and forgiving people and as soon as the person you forgave makes money rightfully deserved, sue them.

Don Imus is a scum bag, however I don't think there is any merit to this lawsuit. There are many things that a person can say that are quite distasteful, but they aren't illegal nor can you sue over them. This lawsuit is frivolous.

I thought you had to prove that someone's damaged your reputation to actually get somebody for slander, libel or defamation.

And personally, If I were that lawsuit, I'd sure Monsters and Critics for the 'nappy headed' remark.

That's totally uncalled for. O.o

Scholarships to study the effects of misogynistic speach is gender descrimination. What about women's male bashing comments, abusive language towards men and the in-your-fact laughter at any comment that suggest women are at fault for any of our problems as a society?

Suing over one's comments won't solve any problems or salve any supposed wound. If women claim to be men's equal or superior, then it's high time they stopped whinning and toughen up.

Enough already!

I agree that very few people outside this woman's circle knew her name, so how could she be damaged from all of this? Another case of a lawyer
getting in on the frey. As for name calling in the media and music world, they are using generalizations whereas Imus specifically targeted a particular group of women - his only downfall.

As a journalistic entity that's mission is based in the principals of 'Free Speech' and enshrined in the Constitution, we do contest that everyone one deserves a second chance. However there is ample evidence that Don Imus is habitual racial opportunist & misogynistic bigot. In no way a first time offender or was this last incident an aberration within his career. Only he and his staff began this highly charged & traumatic period for a group of college kids, (or especially in this case, a group of respectable young ladies).

Don Imus and his staff chose the level & content of dialogue that is was in clear violation of FCC rules and regulations. Within that action, Mr Imus and his staff decided to defame/degrade a specific and small group of people through identification chosen. As such, those actions exposed several young women to an highly charged sexist and racist environment through the defense of Imus by his most avid fans. This is highly actionable, and the conversation that started was done so at the behest of the producers 'Imus in the Morning'.

Should Mr. Imus wish to continue to expose groups of people to his brand of banter, his free speech rights are protected & they should be. However, libel and defamation are civil violations that carries penalties & the award of damages.

It may be to the best interest of Imus and his producers to settle, we can not think of one Mother or Father on the Bench, or one juror who would think such words were good for their daughters.
