Film star Ed Harris was seized by Heathrow airport cops yesterday.
Harris, 56, was "held for hours by police at Heathrow for trying to take a knife on to a plane yesterday" according to the Mirror.com.
The director of the upcoming film "Appaloosa" was said to have thrown a "hissy fit" when asked to empty his pockets at a security checkpoint.
The Mirror claims Harris was snippy with the airport staff as he chucked his wallet on the floor and was "making life as difficult as possible" for search staff. Security officers then found he was carrying an army knife.
Harris was then "bundled" to one side in Terminal 3 and police were called immediately.
The Mirror reports that the actor did not make his American Airlines lunchtime flight while investigations into his behavior continued.
Harris was kept up to three hours while police officers "satisfied" themselves Harris was no harm to anyone and could leave England.
The actor was then allowed by British officials to board a mid-afternoon United Airlines flight to Los Angeles.
The unnamed source detailed the events to the Mirror:
"Ed Harris landed himself in hot water because he made such a fool of - himself. He was affronted that security officers dared to ask him to empty his pockets as he went through a checkpoint near passport control.
"Every passenger is subject to monitoring and revealing what is in their pockets.
"Harris lobbed his keys on to a table in front of security staff and the coins in his pocket went everywhere.
"He actually threw his wallet on the floor. His crass, childish behaviour only ensured that they gave him their full attention.
"When a lock-knife was found on Harris, they immediately called the police to take care of him.
"He was taken away and only then did he realise the full seriousness of what was going on.
"Harris was left to calm down and then questioned for hours. He missed his flight and realised what he'd done was stupid.
"I don't think he will be quite so arrogant or stupid when flying in future."
A Scotland Yard spokesman told the Mirror:
"Police were called at approximately 9.20am to Heathrow's Terminal 3 to reports of a man with a knife. Officers attended and confiscated the knife. A 56-year-old US citizen was given a few words of advice and allowed to board his flight."
