Usher's 'private' wedding

Usher has described his wedding to Tameka Foster as "beautiful and private".

The R'n'B star has spoken for the first time about marrying his pregnant fiancée in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, last Friday (03.08.07).

Usher, who tied the knot at his lawyer's offices, told Us Weekly magazine: "It was beautiful and private. We didn't have a first dance - but we had a lovely, intimate dinner filled with candlelight and flowers.

"We're going to have a larger wedding ceremony sometime later in the year, or after the baby is born, so we can prepare for the birth of our first child."

Tameka, who is expecting Usher's first child, is due to give birth in the autumn.

The couple's low-key nuptials took place just days after their original ceremony at record executive L.A. Reid's Hamptons estate was cancelled at the last minute.

The singer - real name Usher Raymond - allegedly called off the lavish wedding just two hours before the ceremony was due to begin because his mother and former manager Jonetta Patton didn't approve of the union.

However, Tameka - who already has three children - rubbished the rumours of a rift with Jonetta, saying the wedding was delayed because she was hospitalised with a pregnancy scare.

She said: "I was pushing myself way too hard. But I am fine and the baby is fine."

The couple reportedly spent $10,000 on the invites alone for their original wedding.

They also hired top chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten to cook for their 100 guests, including Beyoncé Knowles and her boyfriend Jay-Z, Janet Jackson and Ashanti.
