Eddie Murphy publicly claims paternity to baby Angel

Actor-comedian Eddie Murphy has publicly acknowledged on Friday having fathered a child out of wedlock with Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown, who brought a paternity suit against him earlier this week, reports Reuters. EPA/ANDREW GOMBERTMurphy's publicist issued the statement that the 46-year-old star "always has and will continue to honor his responsibilities as a father.""Mr. Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of ANY sort," the statement said. "He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy."The statement ended by saying Murphy "views this as a private matter, and as such, will not be making any further comments about it."Murphy had been silent on the matter of the baby's paternity up until now.Brown filed suit with her attorney Gloria Allred against Murphy in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, seeking legal paternity and money for support.Reuters reports that a DNA test in June confirmed that Murphy is the father of Brown's baby, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, who was born in April. Previous posted news on Monsters has detailed Murphy's engagement to his girlfriend Tracey Edmonds. Murphy also has five children from his first marriage to Nicole Mitchell, which ended in divorce in April 2006.Ex-wife Nicole and Mel B were seen together at The Ivy restaurant in Los Angeles in a TMZ.com photo pictorial.

Exactly! It happens all the time. Why was Gloria Allred involved? It's just a simple paternity suit that she's guaranteed to win. Is Gloria looking for attention or something? She has more important criminals to go after. Doesn't she?
