Mel B's Eddie lawsuit

Mel B is taking ex-lover Eddie Murphy to court to make him pay child support for their daughter Angel Iris.

The Spice Girl has filed a lawsuit against the 'Dreamgirls' star, accusing him of not "doing the right thing" by their three-month-old daughter.

Mel said: "I am here for one reason and one reason only - her name is Angel. Angel is my baby and Eddie's. She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us, but I want her to know that she has two parents who desire to be responsible for her during her life and who love her so much that they want to be a part of it."

Although a DNA test proved Eddie is Angel's father, he is yet to publicly acknowledge the fact.

Mel's lawyer Gloria Allred said: "He has not paid one penny of child support and we plan to ask the court to award child support and to decide what is reasonable.

"We have filed a paternity suit against Eddie Murphy to legally establish that he is the father of their daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown. We've had communication with his attorney, and now we're moving forward.

"Eddie Murphy was promising to do the right thing, but to date he has not done the right thing. He can have all the babies he chooses to have, but his responsibility needs to be to his own children. My client is seeking sole physical and legal custody."

Allred insisted the singer would be happy for Eddie - who is engaged to film producer Tracey Edmonds - to see his daughter regularly "like millions of parents do".

She added: "He bought a big diamond ring for his new fianceé. It is nice to be generous to others, but what about his own baby?"

Eddie has five other children with his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell.

The comic actor is yet to comment on the paternity lawsuit.
