Nicole Richie is to enter a plea bargain to reduce her punishment when she appears in court today (27.07.07).
'The Simple Life' star - who is reportedly pregnant with her first child - will either plead guilty on no contest to the charge of DUI (driving under the influence) before the Court Commissioner, who will sentence her immediately.
Sources say Nicole, 25, will receive a minimum sentence of five days in jail - as the law states anyone with two DUI convictions must at least serve that amount.
Nicole, the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, has one previous conviction for DUI from 2002.
The star was arrested on December 11 2006 for driving on the wrong side of the road on a California highway on her return from boyfriend Joel Madden's house.
She told the arresting officers she had smoked marijuana and taken the strong painkiller Vicodin.
Nicole had originally pleaded not guilty to the charge.
She is thought to be three months pregnant with the Good Charlotte frontman's baby.
