Just five days after being booked in connection with a May drunken driving charge, actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested early Tuesday morning on five charges including drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance, Santa Monica police told CNN.
In an exclusive conversation with TMZ.com, Lindsay's dad Michael Lohan said that he doesn't believe that the 21-year-old can survive this latest DUI storm on her own, and wants to put the acrimonious custody fight with ex wife Dina on hold, in a last ditch effort to save Lindsay:
"I want to withdraw everything -- court wise -- sit down with Dina as Lindsay's parents and figure out how to help her," Lohan said. "Lindsay can't do this on her own ... when we were together, none of this was happening."
Lindsay Lohan was arrested again last night on charges of drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance.
Police spokeswoman Calisse Lindsey said police got a call at 1:34 a.m. PT that a vehicle was chasing another vehicle in a parking lot in Santa Monica. When officers arrived, they found Lohan driving the vehicle that was chasing the mother of her assistant, the spokeswoman said.
A law enforcement source connected with the Lohan bust tells TMZcom exclusively that Lindsay was "a real bitch in the field."
The TMZ source says Lohan, who was stopped at the intersection of Pico and Main in Santa Monica, was "uncooperative and showed obvious signs of intoxication."
When taken to the police station, the 21-year-old actress registered 0.12 and 0.13 in blood tests for alcohol levels, the spokeswoman said. In California, the legal limit is 0.08, according to the state's Department of Motor Vehicles.
Officers also found a white powdery substance in Lohan's possession which was determined to be cocaine, Lindsey said. Video Watch the report from the Santa Monica police »
Lohan, whose film "I Know Who Killed Me" will be released this Friday, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, possession of cocaine, bringing a controlled substance into a jail facility, and driving on a suspended license, according to Lindsey.
In a news briefing outside the police station, police Lt. Alex Padilla told reporters that another motorist, whom he said was the mother of Lohan's personal assistant, called police on her cell phone and claimed that the actress was chasing after her in an SUV. Padilla said the assistant had just quit hours before.
Padilla said the other motorist -- the assistant's mother -- and Lohan were in the parking lot of the Civic Center and were arguing.
"When officers arrived, they detained the parties involved in the argument," Padilla said
"One of those parties turned out to be Lindsay Lohan," Padilla said. "After officers conducted their initial investigation, they determined that she was driving her vehicle under
She was released on $25,000 bail Tuesday morning, according to The Associated Press.
Last Thursday, Lohan was booked into the Beverly Hills jail on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and misdemeanor hit and run stemming from an early morning incident in Beverly Hills in May.
Lohan posted a $30,000 bond and was released, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Web site.
Lohan had just checked out of a Malibu rehab treatment center two weeks ago and was wearing an alcohol monitor on her ankle as part of her outpatient treatment.
CNN reports that the actress is scheduled to be back in the Beverly Hills Courthouse on August 24 to face the charges there.

No one is going to insure her for a film or any other project, and there are plenty of legit actresses who stay sober who deserve a break. 95 percent of the industry is out of work at any time. She's a decent actress, but nothing special, and the industry won't risk hiring her. Knock out her income, and she can't buy drugs. This broad makes Janis Joplin look stable.
Throw her tail in jail until she grows up. Give her a substantial sentence with chance for parole, and let her prove that she's worthy of release. She has become a role model for everything that's wrong, and is a menace to the public. If a civilian had been injured by her, we'd all be asking for her head.
If there were any justice, her mother would also be incarcerated as a co-conspirator.
This girl has to stop before she hurts her self or someone else.
She's out of control and needs help big time.
I hope she gets the incarceration that she deserves for acting like the laws don't apply to her. This isn't just a young girl acting like all young girls do having a good time - this is serious business! She also needs major therapy.
Partying and doing as she darn pleases seems to be this girl's main goal in life. I agree that she deserves punishment along with major therapy!
