John Travolta loves big breasts.

The 'Hairspray' star - who dressed in drag to play Edna Turnblad in the new big screen version of the hit Broadway musical - likes enormous bosoms so much, he insisted his fake bust for the movie be as large as possible.

Travolta said: "I love big boobs on a woman so I wanted Edna to have them."

The 53-year-old actor has also revealed he developed a liking for being groped on the set.

He confessed: "My boobs and butt got a lot of attention on the set. The whole crew kept coming over and groping me. The scary thing is I liked it."

Travolta enraged gay rights campaigners by accepting the role of Edna - the part played by late drag queen Divine in the original 1988 cult movie - and denying it is a gay film.

The devout Scientologist said: "There is nothing gay in this movie. I'm not playing a gay man."

The 'Pulp Fiction' star also denies the Church of Scientology is in any way homophobic, despite numerous reports claiming the bizarre sci-fi cult tries to "cure" people of homosexuality.

He said: "Scientology is not homophobic in any way. In fact it's one of the more tolerant faiths. Anyone's accepted."
