Mr. Lovitz speaks the truth. As satisfying as it would be for all of us get in line and punch Mr Dick, it won't bring Phil back and Mr. Dick won't learn anything from his deadly blunder. Only thing we all learned is drugs are as bad as they say and Mr. Dick is appropriately named.

This is the feel-good story of the year so far.
In a civilized society, fisticuffs is not necessary. But, hey. Lovitz was right. That guy was a jerk, my words, not his. I'd pay to see Lovitz take ms. Dick in a 5 round pay per view. his interview on Dennis Miller's radio show was priceless
Simply delighted to hear that annoying wart on entertainment's arse got his skull roughed up by my brother, Jon Lovitz. Yeah...... that's the ticket! NOT ACTING!
Good on Jon Lovitz, Damn, I just wish he had used brass knuckles or a Louisville slugger.
Phil Hartman was a genius. (I know 'celebrities' tend to get canonized when they die young but he truly was an incredible talent.) He had such a range and could make mediocre material a riot. His timing, delivery, abilities and the intelligence he brought to comedy made him one of the great ones. I think he would have been phenomenal in a dramatic role as well. To be taken like he was in such a senseless, horrible meaningless way when he had so much left to do, including raising his children was a horrible tragedy and a loss to the art.
If a miserable, talentless little she-dog like Andy Dick had a hand in it that just makes it all the more hard to take.
That queer has needed has face bashed in for years. I couldn't be happier.
We want post kick-ass photos of Dick with his face smashed.
Let us know where Dick(head) hangs out so more of us can kick his ass.
Andy Dick is an idiot. He's rude, not funny, and really creepy. Lovitz is my hero. I'd kiss the man....
Lovitz is wrong only if he thinks ONLY other comedians would cheer him on....
Virtually EVERYONE who's had the misfortune of ever seeing 'the dick' will be congratulating Jon on a job well done.
Dick DID kill Hartman, as surely as if he'd pulled the trigger himself. Jon's actions, hopefully, will end up being just the FIRST step in 'justice delayed'.
Sometimes, smarmy pieces of crap like dick only are brought to justice OUTSIDE the system, but justice nonetheless. In this case, justice would be if he meets the same treatment that Lovitz dished out EVERY time he appears in public.
Render him the pariah he most certainly is. Let him know that if he's stupid enough to continue to show his face, then there are plenty of people out there willing to give him just a tiny portion of the pain that he handed to Brynn...and Phil...and those who loved them.
I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to live, and to make a livelihood. He just GAVE UP the right to make it in the public eye, at public expense. He needs to be apprised of that fact, as physically and frequently as possible....for the rest of his miserable life.
More fun at the laugh factory. Who's going to explode next? Good job Johnny! Phil was great.

as a fellow comic and being in the bussiness I see stuff like this and i have been in many situations dealing with heclers and ignorant people. there were times i have been jealous of young comics for thinking of good material that i did not, but i move on and still work but what andy dick did was way out of line he had no right to do what he did, its ashame I thougt andy dick was funny but now i think he is a dumb comic. but john lovitz i just want to say you did the right thing andy dick asked for it and he got it and john i wished i was there to watch andy dick get his ass kicked by a legend like you stay good and funny god bless

I miss Phil Hartman. Every now and again I break out the old playstation and play 'Blasto' just to hear his voice.
Andy is a Dick. No talent and he pushes buttons because he can't do anything else.
Dennis Miller said something to the effect that Andy does it to get beaten up as if it's some sort of cleansing ritual. Pesonally I think he may be a masochist among a few other things.
I'm very proud of Mr. Lovitz. It's about time somebody shut that ahole up. Phil has always been my favorite SNL cast member, and am very glad that Lovitz still loves the guy enough to defend his honor. Kudos Mr. Lovitz, just know that you have millions of fans who will beat up Dick right along with you!
at the Laugh Factory that night. Lovitz was hilarious! After his act, Dick invited himself up to the stage and attempted a disgusting and pathetic joke about midgets. It wasn't even close to funny. When exiting the Laugh Factory, Lovitz seemed pretty ticked at something and was pacing a bit near the exit. I didn't see the brawl, but I am not surprised one bit.
