Foo Fighters frontman - who has a one-year-old daughter Violet Maye with his wife Jordyn - pretends to be a pit stop worker when he changes diapers.
Grohl told Q magazine: "You can't be afraid of s**t. That's the number one rule. And you have to be like a Nascar pit crew when it's time to do it.
"And the more fun you make it, the better. Sing a f***ing song."
The 38-year-old musician also revealed his wife forced him to attend Mommy And Me classes with her.
Grohl said: "Jordyn goes to this Mommy And Me class, all of these mothers with all of these babies who are the same age.
"She said, 'You know, fathers are welcome', which meant, 'Get your ass to Mommy and Me'.
"It's not Mommy And Daddy And Me! But the next week I go and it was the first time I'd been in a room with f***ing 15 infants. And it was great.
"But at the end of the class all the mothers were dancing with the babies. And I don't have a kid to hold, so I'm just standing there swaying and trying to smile. It was f***ing mortifying."
