'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling has confessed she broke down tears after finishing writing the seventh and final book.
The Scottish writer admits her emotions got the better of her after she penned the last page of the boy wizard's adventures in new tome 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'.
She told British char show host Jonathan Ross: "I was in a hotel room on my own. I was sobbing my heart out. I downed half a bottle of champagne from the mini-bar in one and went home with mascara all over my face. That was really tough."
As well as sadness, Rowling, 41, admits she also felt a great sense of relief to finish the series, which has become a global phenomenon.
She added: "Completing the book is a relief. I can feel more relaxed. During the writing process I had mixed emotions, I felt euphoria sometimes, but devastated when I finished one chapter near the end. I absolutely howled! I had been planning it for so long."
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is due to be released on July 21.
The latest film, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', which is based on the fifth book of the same name, is out this month.

It is heartening to hear such involvement of JK Rowling in her story.
Does Harry Potter die and are the tears because of that?
