Nelly Furtado is engaged to her sound engineer lover.

The 'Maneater' singer, who began dating Demacio 'Demo' Castellon after he worked on her 'Loose' album last year, has been sporting a diamond ring since he popped the question at the end of her tour last month.

Cuban-born Castellon, is a recording engineer and mixer who works closely with legendary music producer Timbaland.

Timbaland, who introduced the pair, has confirmed the engagement rumours.

When asked if the couple were engaged, Timbaland said: "Yes."

Nelly, 28, has always been reluctant to discuss her personal life, but revealed she had a "secret boyfriend" last July.

She said: "I just don't really talk about it. It's nobody famous or anything."

Nelly has a three-year-old daughter, Nevis, with former lover producer Jasper 'Lil' Jaz' Gahunia.

The 'Promiscuous' singer previously admitted she is looking forward to settling down and having more children.

Nelly said: "I'm kind of modern. I don't really live by society's standards. Maybe in the next five years I'll get married, have more kids. One grandmother had eight kids, the other had 10. If I have that many kids, then I would need a husband."
