The 'Spider-Man 3' says even as a teenager he was sure he would be a successful actor and big time Hollywood player.
Maguire said: "From the age of 15 or 16 I knew that I would be successful. You can't ever really figure how it goes, exactly, but I felt like I would be a success. I thought I would do it all."
The 32-year-old actor got his first break with a small role in 1993 with 'This Boy's Life', starring alongside Robert De Niro and his friend Leonardo DiCaprio.
But although he was full of confidence, Maguire admits his performance in the movie wasn't his best.
He said: "I thought I was much better than I actually was at the time. I was terrible. And I thought I was great."
Maguire went on to win critical acclaim for his role in Ang Lee's 1997 film 'The Ice Storm', before becoming a true box office star with the first 'Spider-Man' movie in 2003.
