Dylan, who won the famous golden statuette for Best Song in 2001 with the track 'Things Have Changed' for the film 'Wonder Boys', insists on taking it with him whenever he sets out on the road.
A backstage source revealed the unusual superstition to the New York Daily News newspaper.
The 66-year-old music legend is in the middle of the mammoth 'Never Ending Tour', the current leg of which features 72 dates and takes in most of the US as well as Australia and New Zealand.
The hard-working rocker will be performing for the next three months, with the possibility of even more dates and venues added.
Dylan began his 'Never Ending Tour' in 1988, vowing to keep on performing for his fans rather than just to promote his latest record.
He plays the Mohegan Sun Casino Arena in Connecticut today (27.06.07), before moving on to New York on Friday (29.06.07) and Saturday (30.06.07).

'A backstage source revealed the unusual superstition to the New York Daily News newspaper.' He's had it put on one of the amps for all to see for years. Why does it take a 'backstage source' to reveal this?
