Paris Hilton was released from prison today (26.06.07).

The hotel heiress, who served 23 days at California's Century Regional Detention Center for driving with a suspended licence, left the jail just after midnight.

A smiling Paris, who was wearing a grey and white cropped jacket and blue jeans, waved at the throng of fans who had come to support her before embracing her parents Kathy and Rick Hilton and driving off in a black SUV.

As she walked from the jail gates to her waiting car, Paris was bombarded by a media frenzy of TV crews, photographers and reporters.

A source said: "The sheriff's department made her exit out of the front door, just like any other inmate, so no one would say she was given special treatment."

'The Simple Life' star's representative Elliot Mintz refused to reveal what Paris would be doing in her first hours of freedom.

However, Paris recently revealed she couldn't wait to eat a "good meal" as soon as she was released.

She said: "I will definitely get a good meal because the food in here is absolutely inedible and horrible."

Paris, 26, has also outlined her plans to open a safe house for newly-released female prisoners.

She explained: "I want to help build a transitional home so that when inmates leave here they don't have to go back to the street. These women just keep coming back because they have no place to go."

Paris first entered prison on June 3, before being reassigned to finish her sentence under house arrest on June 7. Judge Michael Sauer, however, overturned the ruling and ordered her to return to jail the same day.

The blonde star, who was said to be suffering from an undisclosed medical issue, was then placed in a medical wing until her condition was considered stable.

Paris recently claimed she was "grateful" for the experience, saying it had made her appreciate her privileged upbringing.

She said: "I'm so much more grateful for everything that I have, even just to have a pillow at night, or food."

Paris is set to give her first post-jail interview tomorrow night (27.06.07) on CNN's 'Larry King Live'.

I am so happy for her! I just dont know why such jerks would do such a mean thing and put her in there in the first place, as it is no place for a princess. I think she deserves a trip to Tiffanys right away. My mom and I just love her to death!!

You tell em Heather. Dont pick on Paris she has a rough life right now. How dare people talk bad about today's role models like Paris and Lyndsay. Young women like I look up to and admire the princesses of today, knowing they will be the queens of America tomorrow.

What a sad commentary on just about everything wrong with society when girls are modeling themselves on someone whose only claim to fame is that she gave oral sex on a grainy video, her parents are rich and she goes to parties. Now when she had to pay the piper for committing a crime, these sock-puppets who think that Paris is integral to society think she's being hard-done by. If some oily guy in a pair of work coveralls was arrested for the same crime he would have to do the whole sentence, not been given this new-age, nicey-nicey mental fatigue break and no one would have even known he had gone. If you young excuses for up-and-coming humanity can't see who should be your real heroes, I am very sad for you. How about paying some attention to the women in NASA, AIDS research, the military, or if you are stuck on Hollywood types, how about women that had looks and CLASS like Diana Rigg or Audrey Hepburn (also known for her humanitarian work). Pathetic, utterly pathetic.

Paris has done much for the fashion industry, promoting young women to dress with style, not like those ghetto trash. She will help guide those young women out of prison, to the bright lights of the catwalk...isnt that like, great!

I respect those who are helping fight those diseases, but I dont care about whats in space. Like, duh, we know there's no one on Mars now. Instead of spending 400 million on a trip to Mars, why dont we use it to fix our problems on earth. There are many young girls on this planet who cannot match colors and dresses properly. Paris can do much for the fashion failures down here. Rise up America, support Paris Hilton!!

I can't tell if you 'girls' are serious or kidding. Helping girls learn fahion sense? Do you really SERIOUSlY think that means ANYTHING!!??? If you are in fact serious, i'm ashamed to know there are girls growing up as clueless as you. The worst part is you really believe you know the important things in life, and are behaving for the betterment of humanity.

Some of us DO know whats important in today's world. Beleive it or not, there are women out there that leave the house wearing clashing tops and dresses, or worst yet, they dont know how to match their heels with their outfits. These are just some of the wrongs in this world that people like Paris are working hard to make right. Dont be a hater of the pink!

Let me give you an idea of how 'important' fashion is to the world. You girls probably look at old fashion photos from the 70's and 80's and think 'oh gawd, people dressed so tacky back then'. What you don't realize is that if you had grown up in that era, you would be wearing those exact same clothes. Not because you made your own 'fashion decision', but because somebody else dictated to you what you 'must' wear to be fashionable. People are dictating to you what you must wear now, and you fall in line and buy it all up hook, line, and sinker. Fashion means nuuuuthing.

Some of us are above the TommyHilfiger and FUBU days dear. Fashion and style are who you are, if you do not have them, you'll never have a truly classy lady like a Paris or a Nicole. Relax, pay attention to the red carpet this fall, and maybe you'll learn a little about the ladies of today! Dont go by Sloop, I bet deep down below all this fashion hate, I'll bet youre a cute snookums.

Heather and Brandi are surely being sarcastic - trying to add a little comedy to this site. It's definitely a failing society if Paris and her ilk are looked up to by young girls. They are setting themselves up for failure for sure!

I'm lead to believe the medical condition was called reality , it's quite common amongst wealthy layabouts who think that laws don't apply to them.

There might be hope - most people grow up eventually. It just takes some a little longer- like some of the wanna-be teeny boppers here. Paris really exhibits a very immature persona - wonder if she's ever been tested?
