Victoria Beckham accepts undisclosed libel damages from magazine

Victoria Beckham accepted an agreement for undisclosed damages on Monday from a celebrity magazine that ran a story claiming the crew of her upcoming U.S. television series considered her “picky, demanding and rude.”

Beckham, a former Spice Girl, filed a lawsuit against Star magazine due to an April article the magazine published that claimed the staff on the NBC show “Victoria Beckham: Coming to America”  had also described her as "full of herself and not very nice."

The star’s lawyer, Gerrard Tyrrell, informed the Britain's High Court the filming for the series had yet to start at the time the story was published and the “story was therefore completely inaccurate and defamatory of Ms. Beckham.” Beckham was not in court for Monday’s hearing.

The magazine’s owners, Northern & Shell PLC, apologized to Beckham and agreed to pay the legal cost along with damages – which were not disclosed.
 
Beckham, 33, is married to soccer superstar David Beckham. The couple now lives in the U.S. – where David Beckham is scheduled to join Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy in July. Beckham’s television series is set to premiere July 16.
