Elvis' gun sale

Elvis Presley's gold-plated gun was sold for $28,800 at auction on Saturday (16.06.07).
A microphone used by the late rock legend fetched $15,000, while his prescription pill bottle raised $2,640, at Beverly Hills' annual Julien's Summer Auction.
Organisers had planned to sell the bottle along with the antihistamine and decongestant drug Naldecon it had contained, but were told it would be a federal crime.
Auctioneer Darren Julien said: "We'd planned to sell the bottle with the pills, but the Los Angeles Police Department told us it would be a federal crime to do it, so sad to say we had to remove the pills."
An umbrella held by Marilyn Monroe in a famous 1949 seaside photo shoot by Andre de Dienes sold for $42,000.
Buyer William Doyle plans to display the umbrella at the Museum of Style Icons in County Kildare, Ireland.
Other items from the sale, which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, included Alfred Hitchcock's passport which fetched $19,200.
