Angelina Jolie has revealed her mother's death triggered her dramatic weight loss.
The actress lost her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, to ovarian cancer in January and has since become noticeably thinner.
Angelina confessed at the New York premiere of her new film 'A Mighty Heart' on Wednesday (13.06.07): "I've always been lean and this year I lost my mom and I've gone through a lot.
"I have four kids and I finished breastfeeding - it's been hard to get my nutrition back on track."
The 32-year-old - who has adopted five-year-old Maddox, three-year-old Pax and two-year-old Zahara and has a one-year-old biological daughter Shiloh with Brad Pitt - insists her weight loss is not something she is proud of.
She added: "Instead of people saying I look like a person dealing with something emotionally, they assume it's because I want to fit into skinny jeans.
"Someone saying to me that I'm thin is not a compliment."
The 'Tomb Raider' star - once famous for her curves - sparked concern among fans when she was pictured looking painfully thin with veins protruding in her arms.

The thinner a woman looks, the better. Angelina is naturally thin. Her thin look makes her loved by Americans.
'The thinner a woman looks, the better.'
In a society with such a dysfunctional relationship with food, and the extent to which women obsess over their weight, body, and image, it disgusts me that you aren't embarrassed to post that statement publicly.
umm for the comment that said the thinner the women the better, i think that is a bit subjective and biased. My whole life I haven't been 'big' but I've been told to lose weight by people close to me. I have just realized that there is no need to, that when a women is curved and has a bit of natural weight it is beautiful. In life you should always keep fit because it is something necessary for your health. However, being 'thin' so that you don't have any fat on your body is not beautiful and being 'skinny' is not necessarily being 'healthy.' As for Jolie, I hope she does gain back the weight she wants to, and I hope she is able to recover fully from her loss. She is a beautiful woman and I hope she stays strong.

I've heard that she said she no longer looks at food in the same way after spending so much time overseas with people in need. She says she does eat when she is hungry, but will not eat just because it is time to eat. My concern is that she really is experiencing hunger pangs, but has conditioned herself to ignore them. I wish her the best in getting her nutrition back on track. She has helped so many people in her life, but I am concerned that she is not being a good role model for all the young women that look to her as a role model.
