Paris Hilton's jail return?

Paris Hilton could be sent back to jail today (08.06.07).

The hotel heiress - who was released from California's Century Regional Detention Facility yesterday (07.06.07) for unspecified medical reasons and put on 40-day house arrest after serving just five days of her sentence - has been ordered to report to the Los Angeles Superior Court at 9am today (08.06.07).

A judge will hear her case for "reassignment" to house arrest and decide if she should return to prison.

Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, said her "reassignment" from her 8ft by 12ft cell to her luxury home was made after "extensive consultations" with jail doctors and the sentencing judge.

However, a court spokesman has insisted the decision was not approved by Judge Michael Sauer, who sentenced Paris last month for driving with a suspended licence.

At the time, Sauer had specifically ruled she could not serve her jail time at home under electronic monitoring.

Sauer set today's hearing after a request from the city's attorneys who are now suggesting Sheriff Lee Baca should be held in contempt of court for releasing Paris early.

City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, whose office prosecuted the 26-year-old, complained he had no idea she had left jail.

He said: "The judicial process may have been improperly circumvented. It is the city attorney's position that the decision on whether or not Ms. Hilton should be released early and placed on electronic monitoring should be made by Judge Sauer and not the Sheriff's Department.

"The sheriff's explanation for Paris' house arrest is puzzling, county jails are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates."

Paris was reportedly released after developing a rash, according to US TV show 'Entertainment Tonight', while gossip website TMZ.com claim she was in danger of having of a nervous breakdown.

County Supervisor Don Knabe fumed: "What transpired here is outrageous. I have received more than 400 angry emails and hundreds more phone calls from around the country. Her return home gives the impression of celebrity justice being handed out."

Paris, who was fitted with an ankle bracelet to keep track of her whereabouts, praised jail staff after being released in the early hours of yesterday morning.

She said: "Thank you for treating me fairly and professionally. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope others have learned from my mistakes."

When I first heard she had been let out of jail i thought my friend was just kidding me ... what the hell are those people thinking? If Judge Sauer doesn't send her ass back to jail at the hearing today then it's an even bigger joke than it already is now. The bitch needs to shut up and serve her time.

i'm crossing my fingers, trusting that the judge won't send paris back to jail -- the police have been devoting too many resources to watching her in her cell, when instead they ought to be out doing what genteel society wants them to do, what our girls & boys in iraq are fighting for: namely, attacking mexican americans who happen to foregather in public parks in groups whose numbers are greater than zero

First of all, the amount of time, money, and resources the state of California has spent on this case is utterly absurd. In my humble opinion, her offenses were not harsh enough for her to be put in jail and thats the bottom line. I think she should be let out because only real criminals should be in jail not someone driving on a suspended license. What is this country coming to? Drug dealers sometimes dont end up in jail they end up on house arrest. This case is such crap and a big publicity stunt.

This is a farce. Jails are equipped to handle medical problems. Paris should go back to jail, she states that 'she hopes that others will learn from her ordeal'. If she meant that she would stay in jail, do her time like any one else. She broke the law and should pay her dues. Jail is not easy and everyone in jail has emotional problems by being cut off from society to some degree or another. Her money, name and standing should not give her a easy out. If anything people with her standing should face a harder time because the world is watching. They should led by example.

It's pretty clear that the justice system has no idea what they're doing.

If Paris had no money and committed the same offense she'd be in jail. We all know that.

IMO, this goes to show that if one has no money then 'Justice' will do whatever it wants to do with you regardless of what is right or wrong.

Even if the judge orders her back to jail today, Sheriff Lee Baca doesn't have to abide by the ruling. The LA county jail system is incredibly over crowded. It was only a month ago or so, ago that Baca announced, he was moving to assure that violent inmates serve 50% of their sentences. Up until very recently, if a non violent offender was sentenced to 90 days or less, it was a given that he/she would not do a single day in the slammer. This has been the case for several years, now.

Why, you ask would Baca, not be obligated to return Paris to her cell? To incarcerate her requires, for her protection the practical clearing of a whole wing of the jail. It wouldn't be safe for her to shower and use the same bathroom facilities, with other inmates. Many of which are violent gang members. As one gangster stated. 'She would be broom-handled, in a New York minute'. There just isn't any budget to assign her, her own deputy guard.

The mandate that commands Baca to alleviate over crowding was handed down by the Federal courts. Today, she will be in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Of the nearly 22,000 prisoners in the Los Angeles County jail system, nearly half are illegal immigrants. The same Fed that demands that we let criminals go free, because of over crowding, does not reimburse Los Angeles County, one cent for its failure/refusal to secure our borders...........Think about it!

Paris wasn't just sent to jail for driving on a suspended license. She was caught drinking and driving, this is a criminal offense that should be dealt with before someone dies. She was lucky that no one was hurt and hopefully she will think twice in the future.

Somehow this bimbo is a role model to young women for doing absolutely nothing. ACT LIKE ONE!!!

Jail is not intended to be fun, it is supposed to be miserable, stressful and life altering. It's designed this way so you do not want to go back.

She is getting the publicity that she dotes on and is probably loving every second of it. If the jails are too crowded to handle more inmates, why wasn't that taken into consideration at her sentence?? As far as a 'medical' reason - anyone can throw a crying, nervous fit if they think it will get them what they want!! The only thing anyone will learn from this is that money talks.
I agree with someone who said she should have been given community service where she would have to actually live somewhere like a homeless shelter, etc., and be put to work. A fine or taking her driving privileges away wouldn't work in her case - she has the money and would hire a driver!!! The back and forth decisions on this case make the authorities all look like bumbling circus clowns!!

Nicole Richie was cited for driving the wrong way down an Interstate while under the influence of narcotics and marijuana. Paris was cited for driving at night, without lights, again, in the wrong direction of a public highway, supposedly drunk, yet again and while forbidden by the courts to operate a motor vehicle.
Our justice system is a travesty. Paris, Nicole, Lindsey, Brittney....don't they have some kind of Bimbo Patrol they could track them with? Do the time.

My opinion: lock paris hilton up for the maximum sentence for violation, since cutting the 45 days to 23 wasn't enough of a break for her. I am so sick and tired of seeing people with money get out of wrong doings. If it had been me or any other plain old Joe we would have been locked up the first time we were caught knowingly driving on a suspended licence. She also provides a window into attitudes and life among members of her social strata where success means you're better than the rest of us fools. I vote for throwing the book at her ugly face. I hope Paris AND the sheriff who let her out of jail both get sent to the slammer!! She was convicted of reckless drunk driving, and then caught driving on her suspended license. That means jailtime for me if I do such a thing!! Even it it's just 2 or 3 weeks, anybody who risks innocent people's lives the way she did, and then tells the law to F**K Off I can get back behind the wheel if I want, needs to be punished just like the rest of us. That sheriff needs to get some sort of legal punishment as well. What 'medical condition'? She was starving herself? She was crying? She had a little tiny rash? You can have oozing bedsores, bones showing, and be bawling your head off, and all they do is send you to the infirmary under guard until you heal!! They don't let you out of jail!! That sheriff was either paid off, or he looked at the pretty little girl and said 'it's okay honey, you can go home.' I can guarantee you that there was nothing legal behind his motivations. Payoffs aren't legal, and emotional reasons for letting criminal go aren't legal either. I'm embarrassed to think about what other countries think of us right now over this. In some countries, she would have lost her license permanently, or been put in hardcore prison (or executed in another country who I will not name for the sake of their already bad reputation) for the drunk driving charge!! She's getting off easy with only 23 days.

I'm Richer Than YouJun 8th, 2007 - 18:58:31

Yes, I have money. Lots of it. Yes I do get special treatment. Real special.

For example, as soon as I learned that Manning was playing in the Superbowl in February, I simply picked up the phone, called my personal concierge (given to me by my Centurion Card or American Express Black Card as it's also known) and told her I wanted 5 tickets. Even though it was completely sold out, I got them. So there we were, my wife, brother-in-law, brother, sister and I at the 'sold-out' Superbowl.

Of course, all you see is some rich jerk got special treatment, and yes, I did get special treatment.

But what your ignorance doesn't let you see is the tremendous amount of hard work I've had to put in to get to where I am.

Sure, I don't have 'Hilton' money, and sure Paris Hilton inherited her wealth, but the fact is, the enormous sacrifice, time, energy and capital that goes into building a company like Hilton is like nothing 99.99% of the world population will ever know.

Of course, most people reading this will never understand that, and that's ok.

Just ask yourself one little question: Don't you get special treatment in some areas of your life because of who you know?

Everyone, at some level, gets special treatment, that's just the way the world is. Everywhere you go you're dealing with people, and if it just so happens that you've got a family member or a friend at your local DMV, you will get special treatment that I'll never get... even with all my money.

So to every cry-baby out there mad that 'people with money' get special treatment, I say this:

Stop being a loser. Get up off your ass, find something you love to do, work like hell for about 10 years and enjoy the fruits of your labor. When you do that you'll see that it's simply NATURAL you'll be meeting lots and lots of people because you're out there making connections and improving people's lives. Once that happens you'll find a whole lot of special treatment headed your way.

Or, just complain and complain and you'll find the next 10 years to be the same exact copy of the last 10 years.

It really is your choice.

As for Paris yes, she should pay for her crime. Should she get special treatment? Yes, of course. She's different. She attracts attention. She's got money and comes from a family of power. Every society does that. Every society treats their rich and powerful differently. The bottom line: Get over it. It is what it is.

-- The Rich Jerk

P.S. Oh and yes, I am richer than you. The interesting thing is that you can easily change that but I know you won't because most people are simply not willing to do what it takes.

Not the warm and fuzzy advice you'll get from your financial planner, but it's the cold hard truth.

For those of you who think she shouldn't be in jail, like the doctor from the first page....lets see how you'd feel when you get that call telling you your family member was just killed by a drunk driver. I believe every single individual that gets caught driving under the influence should get a tough penalty. Atleast a day or two in jail for that first offence, along with lots of community service. Too many innocent people are killed every day due to drunk drivers. Paris gets caught, gets probation...FINE. She's the one who decided to screw the punishment. Why? Because she's Paris Hilton. She doesn't have to play the same game we do. Yeah right. If she can't take her easy punishment of probation, whose to say she's not going to decide once again say 'Screw Them...I'm going out. I'm Paris. I can do whatever I want!!' Maybe going back to jail will teach her a valuable lesson, since its so obvious that she hasn't had to face the music very often throughout her life. Going back to jail will possibly save her life...and maybe yours. Jail will impact her a lot worse then it would me, so she could actually learn her lesson; and that would probably be one of the first times in her life that she actually had to learn a lesson on her own.

Who cares? Lock her up to get mental help, or admit her skinny ass to the closest professional psychiatric hospital. How embarrassing this must be for the wonderful Hilton family, who would probably wish she would move very far away and never come back. And...cut her out of the Hilton inheritance and make her work for a living at a Kohls or something. She could be one of those skinny ass manakins and look fake all day long. Paris Hilton was unfairly sentenced in the first place. Most lawyers agree that someone with no prior record, violating probation on a suspended license would have got a day or two with time served from the arrest, a fine, and/or community service. But she dropped her appeal and went in Sunday night like she was supposed to. She was said to be a model inmate, polite and gracious to her jailers, but depressed and not eating.
Now she has become a pawn in a power struggle between the Sheriff's dept. and this ancient judge who won't retire - who was remanded to traffic courts from being a homicide judge due to his incompetence. They dangled the halfway freedom of house arrest like a carrot in front of her, let her go, and then dragged her back to jail. And then people make fun of her for crying.
You'd cry too, if they did that to you or your child.
If I were Conrad Hilton, I'd take all the money and influence I had and go after that judge, his family, and everyone he cares about with a team of private investigators and dig up any skeletons in his family closet like a rabid pit-bull and let him see what it feels like to be under the gun.
What a woeful miscarriage of justice. OJ's playing golf and Paris is in the orange jumpsuit. I'm not an apologist for her. I'm not a fan. I just know that she's been railroaded and it deeply erodes my trust in the judicial system.
