Nicole Richie is terrified of going to jail like best friend Paris Hilton.
'The Simple Life' star is facing a possible jail sentence after she was arrested for DUI (driving under the influence) last December.
Nicole told US chat show host David Letterman: "I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, and of course, I'm scared also, but I'm willing to face whatever consequences come my way, and I take responsibility for what I've done."
The 25-year-old star pleaded not guilty at a preliminary hearing but the police who arrested her claimed she told them she had taken the painkiller Vicodin and smoked marijuana.
Nicole will be jailed if found guilty as she has a previous DUI conviction in 2003 when she was found to be in possession of heroin.
When asked when she will know if she is heading for jail, Nicole said: "Probably the end of this month."
Paris is currently serving the fourth day of her minimum 23-day sentence for driving with a suspended licence.
