Jim Carrey will play a gay con man in a new dark comedy.
The 'Bruce Almighty' star will star as Steven Russell in 'I Love You Phillip Morris', the real-life story of a married Texan father and former policeman who is sent to prison and falls in love with his cellmate.
The plot sees Russell repeatedly break out of prison to be with his released cellmate, with various inventive escape methods including forging his own death certificate after pretending to have contracted AIDS.
The film is being described as a cross between 'Catch Me If You Can' and 'Brokeback Mountain'.
It is based on Houston Chronicle newspaper's crime reporter Steve McVicker's book, 'I Love You Phillip Morris: A True Story of Life, Love and Prison Breaks'.
'I Love You Phillip Morris' is written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the writing team behind 'Bad Santa'.
