Alex James says his marriage caused Blur to split.
The bass guitarist - who indulged in alcohol and drug binges while in the band - is now a sober married man, a lifestyle change which he believes ended his career as a rock star, and upset bandmate Damon Albarn.
Alex told Marie Claire magazine: "When I stopped drinking, I shed a lot of acquaintances. And when I moved out of London, it changed things, too.
"There were a handful of friends who also reacted strangely to my feelings for Claire, because I completely swooned over her.
"Damien Hirst never forgave me for getting married, it also affected my relationship with Damon."
The 38-year-old has three sons, Geronimo and twins Artemis and Galileo, with wife Claire and has now swapped the stage to be a cheese-maker and sheep farmer.
He tried yoga as part of his new lifestyle, but found it too expensive.
He said: "I got fed up with yoga just because it's so f***king expensive.
"It's £60 for an hour's yoga, but it's only £30 to be taught something useful for an hour, like drumming lessons, or Japanese or astrophysics."
Blur are currently in talks to reunite, along with Graham Coxon, who quit in 2002.
