I indeed am an 'Aspie', this is the acronymn those of us with Asperger's Syndrome refer to ourselves as. Indeed in Asperger's case, there are different levels of such. Some of us can get along a lot better than others can. A dear friend of mine has the more rigid scheduling thing going on, while I have none what so ever. I keep telling him that he has too much scheduling and I have too little. And one of these days we'll meet in the middle. He definitely seems comfortable just the way he is though. Just as I am with myself........... He's always put off by the how easy it is for me to be so friendly and gregarious with folks. This tends not to be a trait full spectrum Autism and or Asperger's folks usually have. Even if my all too 'eccentric' Aspie personality traits get me looked down on and consasended to by people. Which seems to happen at times and places where it shouldn't. It hurts of course and can bring me down even worse than the depression that, goes hand in hand with Asperger's can...........On a parting note, I'm going to tip everyone off to the fact that there is a growing bit of 'Disrimination' towards us Aspies in the work place. Our unemployment numbers both in good economic times and 'The New Great Depression' we're all suffering through together. Have been off the charts, even though we can get along fairly well in the work place. Our propensity for 'eccentric behavior can get us turned down by a hiring supervisor or layed-off, as well as fired very often. Our unemployment numbers were around 80% during those supposed 'Good Times' and are now 88% during 'The Depression' ( never thought I'd have to utter that phrase; The Depression, the same way my Grandparents did!! ). Anyway, even though we seem to be gifted in many ways as 'Bill Gates and Albert Einstein' have proven, those in charge are often more interested in someone who fits in and does an average job. Instead of a person who's really good at something but, doesn't act like everyone else..........There's a very bigoted College Professor and Author named 'Makita Brottmann', her article 'Nutty Professor's' is basically a 'Mein Kampf' towards anyone with Asperger's. She's not afraid to admit publicly that she will discriminate against 'us'..........Take care for now and may the best be with you!!
