Oh gawd...like we need more immigration/discrimination slurs...why would you turn the booing into mexicans being haters all of a sudden? If youre so prideful then have your little pageants in the U.S. geez...what do you say to that? They were probably just booing her for the simple fact that she fell and looked dumb. It was nothing more...the media needs to stop twisting things around.

See I don't think they booed her because she was an American or for American policies. They booed her because she made Top 5 after she fell and the audience didn't think she deserved to make it past that round in the competition because of the fall. And to a certain extent I agree with them. Yes, she showed poise when she got up and continued the competition but I would have placed a few other ladies ahead of her.

Bottom line is the mexican people showed a lack of common courtesy and respect for the American contestant. American policies (if that is why they did it) has nothing to do with a young American girl in a pageant. I don't think that is the reason they did it though. The main reason they did it (in my eyes) is because they treated this pageant as if it were a soccer match or something. Booing rivals, whistling, and showing their lack of class. I am embarassed for them.

The Mexicans acted like what they are: savage, backward, dirty, loud, violent and rude. Im amazed any American travels to Mexico on vacation or invests one dime there. I hope the United States puts up a 2000 mile long, 50 foot high wall on the border and deports the 12 to 20 million criminal law breakers who came to this country one illegal alien at a time. The quicker we eliminate all these law breaking worthless third world scum the better off we will be. They are useless and serve no purpose to the United States regardless of the liberal propaganda.

Well it just goes to show you who was in the audience.

I for one am sick of the US providing benefits to illegals and then acting as if we have to defend ourselves for wanting control of our borders.

I want the borders shut and controlled and if this cuts into agricultural conglomerate profits or causes a General Contractor to make less money and the Mexican government to have to solve its own poverty problems then so be it!

If you want to come here, then do it like my Italian, German and Italian ancestors did and learn English and assimilate same as they did. We need more good hard working Americans, not Mexican-Americans or German-Americans or Muslims or whatever-Americans, but simply Americans.

America is the only country with a substantial percentage of its population stupid enough to ask whether or not they should or have a right to control their borders.

The illegals send millions in cash back to Mexicio and that is how their government generates cash flow. 'America rules'? Yea, well America is North America, Latin America and South America.

You can easily see that the 'elected officials' (they don't deserve the title 'leaders') of the US corporate state, are milking everyone from the middle class on down, not only in the US, but all over the world.

If you don't know and understand why the majority of the people of the world have strongly opposed the policies of the US government since 2000, then you're an ill-informed pawn of the US military-industrial-government complex (corporate state). Everything is up for sale in the US now. The corporations have bought and now control the US media and the US government.

Try getting your news from somewhere besides Fox. Look for some international news sources.

If you're a true, freedom loving, constitutional American patriot, you would be all over the US government's faults. This is your constitutional duty as an American. We need a government Of the people, By the people, and For the people. Not a government Of the corporations, By the corporations and For the corporations.

The Mexicans in the audience were booing because it was clear that Miss Mexico was much more beautiful than Miss USA. After Miss USA's mishap during the evening gown segment, it seemed proposterous to think that she would continue to the next round while Miss Mexico would not. It added fuel to the fire when they showed an image of Donald Trump on the screen. It was obvious to the Mexicans (and me) that the whole thing was rigged by Mr. Trump. It has nothing to do with immigration.

Part of being a 'Miss Whatever' is how one handles adversity or an unexpected situation. Maybe Trump ought to set up situations where the contestents deal with things like problems with hotel reservations or lost luggage. Miss USA should have been given extra points for keeping her cool.
This action reinforces the growing racism and toward Black people by Mexicans, from officials in Mexico City to Mexican immigrants in this country. A couple of years ago then Mexican president Vincente Fox saw nothing wrong with creating series of postage stamps of a Mexican cartoon character who is a cartoon version of Stephin' Fetchit. Fox in fact considered it an insult that African Americans found offense to the stamps that would be sent on mail to the United States and other countries around the world. African Americans have been targeted for murder by Mexican gangs. African American spend lots of money on Mexican vacations; I think a boycott is in order. Mexico should be doing everything to encourage Americans to visit Mexico. Fewer Americans are going to Mexico because of new passport requirement, and even fewer will go beginning next year when passports will be required to drive or walk across the border. I think Trump is having second thoughts about going back to Mexico and maybe other folks should do the same.

To: Robert Anderson, sandiego and all the rest of those who forgot what America really means.

We need illegal immigrants more then we think. But don't let them know.

The reality of the economics is that we are VERY dependant on the cheap labor provided by undocumented immigrants, who are treated very poorly, pay taxes and rarely get any services for it.

How much do you think a head of lettuce or some carrots would cost if they had to pay “Americans” to do the job of picking, processing, and packing the products.

How much do you think you would have to pay for a Burger and fries at MacDonald’s or Burger King? Even at a good restaurant much of the work in the kitchen is done by undocumented immigrants.

Every single product and service in this country would cost quite a bit more without cheap labor coming to us in the form of undocumented immigrant workers or imports from countries that pay next to nothing.

What kind of standard of living would we have without them?
Not as good/easy as it is now, that is for sure.

Don’t forget they are people too. Calling them names reflects more on those using such language then on those who the names are directed at.

The booing was because there were so many other contestants that had everything and more, that DID NOT FALL and that could have deserved a chance to speak in the Q&A session. Instead, and not surprising at all being that the judges were mostly American, the US rep (not even about smith) got through. The damage, however, is that in the eyes of the INTERNATIONAL community the event loses credibility and validity which is a shame given that this beauty contest, just like the world cup and the Olympics are events at which the international community gets a chance to interact with each other. Still, not long before 'Americans' begin to see themselves as an integral part of the global community, as human beings with friendships and relationships ever more intertwined with other cultures thanks to TV and the Internet. Not long before white-old men realize that they're the minority that still believes there's a contest to be won and that winning is all that matters.

to Shocked and Sad....not all of us came here on the Mayflower or the Queen Mary. African Americans were forced to this country against their will via slavery, and the first generation of Chinese came to this country after being kidnapped in Shanghai(thus the term Shanghaied)and put in involuntary servitude. In the discussion about illegal immigrantion, it's interesting that there's little discussion about Cuban immigrants. Hundreds of Cuban immigrants are allowed into the United States each year. the ones we hear the most about are the folks on the rafts and small boats who wash up at key west and other beaches, but many more just fly to Canada or Mexico, walk across the border and call the authorities. Because of the wet foot/dry foot policy, any Cuban who sets foot on United States soil must be allowed to stay. Because the Cuban lobby is so powerful in Washington and with the media, almost all the focus on illegal immigration is on Mexicans, but not Cubans who get a free pass to enter the US.

I watched the entire pagaent and Miss USA was well aapplauded for until she fell and still got in the Top 5. I presume that the audience felt that falling in a competition that requires poise should take considerable points off, much like they do in the Olympic skating competition.

Miss USA herself looked somewhat shocked when she was called as one of the top 5 and the audience probably felt that their own, Miss Mexico in the Top 10 did not fall and yet did not make the Top 5 and the largely Mexican audience most likely saw it as an unfair call.

cd...you need to keep up with the topic, which is Miss USA being booed at the Miss Universe pagent in Mexico City after she slipped and fell. The pagent is produced by Trump, who said that Miss USA was booed because of Mexicans' attitude toward the USA regarding the immigration issue. Others have said that she was booed because she was African American, while others have said the boos reflected attitudes that citizens in almost every nation in the world holds toward the USA because of the war. If our southern neighbor embrace these views toward the US (and Canadians have similar attitudes), is it any wonder that Al Quida has no problem recruiting folks in Asia and Africa?
Americans might go to Mexico without papers now, but that will end in six months when Americans will be required to have passports to enter the United States from Mexico on foot or car (if you fly from Mexico, you now need a passport)

You cannot judge an entire country by a group of stupid people that started booing miss USA. If many of you haven't noticed by now, the audience was not attended by those who would be inclined to cross the Rio Grande on foot and enter my country illegally.

The boos and hisses were from the Mexican elite attending this event. We shouldn't be surprised though, the same Mexican elite have the same disdain for to-wards their own countryman as they do to-wards Americans.

Why does the Mexican elite keep their countrymen poor and uneducated? Simple really, the same technique is used in the public schools in the U.S. An uneducated person doesn't question authority and power, he only obeys it and fears it. Because an educated man doesn't fear authority and power he questions it, and this is exactly what elites all over the world don't want to happen. This is why U.S. government run education does such a pitiful job of educated our kids over here, and the Mexican government of not at all.

So I guess it can be said that American and Mexican elites have more in common than they would care to admit to, because after all both are snobs when you strip away their finery.

To all who think undocumented workers are just free loaders.

Even the IRS admits that about 10% of the Social Security reserve fund comes from clearly bogus Social Security numbers.
They also pay sales tax, federal withholding taxes, and property taxes. No matter how long they stay or how hard they work, they will never see a dime of that money again.

So the argument that they are leaching off the system is clearly invalid and is not supported by the facts.

Again, let’s stop the name calling and pointing fingers. It’s just really juvenile.

If is wasn't for abortion we would have enough people to pay for our social programs. We wouldn't need more immigrants here. France is now paying 8000$ to illegals to leave their country, yep liberal france.

To: Poodle McClure

'See I don't think they booed her because she was an American or for American policies. They booed her because she made Top 5 after she fell and the audience didn't think she deserved to make it past that round in the competition because of the fall.'

See, your problem is that you think it is acceptable to boo a poor young girl, who already felt humiliated after falling, because of a some supposed mistake on the part of the judges.

See, your problem is that you're just as crude and insensitive as the people in that audience who revelled in this young lady's misfortune.

See, if you can't find a way to stand up for the one who was truly wronged, you should probably just keep you mouth shut.

See?

'Miss USA' - that's pretty funny when you think about it. As if some tall skinny girl who has devoted her life to beauty pageants actually represents the USA.

The irony is that the most likely reason that the audience didn't like 'Miss USA' is that the audience somehow thought that she actually represented the USA.

So, what didn't the audience like about the USA? Abuse of power. The same reason that an employee dislikes a bad boss. The same reason that citizens dislike an oppressive tyrant.

And what, besides a tall skinny girl with an affinity for beauty pageants, would best represent the USA? Perhaps one of the USA's nuclear missiles that is someday destined to kill more innocent people than the Nazi Holocaust?

G,

The arguments are invalid because they are NOT supported by the facts.

The fact sill remains; they are putting tons money is US coffers.

You call May 1st in LA a riot. I call it police brutality, as did most of the press who attended it and got injured by a few bad seeds in the LAPD. Those cops are all on 'administrative leave' pending an investigation.

What was wrong with Zuleyka? She acted like she didn't want to place the crown on Riyo Mori's head. In fact she purposely made it fall. Such a shame. I would say that's something so ugly to do for someone so beautiful but she's not. Home girl is lucky she won the crown last year. If it weren't for all those Puerto Rican and other Hispanic judges she wouldn't have won. She got lucky so she should be grateful and show some class. Just like that other girl in 2001 or was it 2000 Denise Quinos. She messed up bad on her final question but still won because it was in Puerto Rico and they had Puerto Rican judges. She ruined a moment for someone. Karma Karma Karma.

Why is it that so few of you get it? After 9/11 I was blown away that you even had to ask, why do they hate us? They hate you because you talk about them the way you do. You think you hae thre right, but they don't? They hate you because although you profess to be the great democracy, money is all that really speaks in your country. They hate you becuase you interfere in their politics and they hate you, because when you give aid, it is always on your terms and with incredible strings attached. If you left your country ever (and not as part of a military force), you would probably experience it first hand. You are NOT the good guys you think you are. Do a little research, open your minds. Until you do, there is not a hope in hell of ever reasoning with you.

OK, it was tacky, rude and classless for the audience to boo the US contestant.

But the stupidity of the anti-immigrant posters here is amazing. Do they even understand that there are millions of Mexicans who don't care to move to the US? Are they completely clueless about the fact that this event took place in Mexico City? That's in Mexico. The name is kind of a giveaway, there. That means that none of those people were, um, illegal or any other kind of immigrants to the United States.

There may be reasons to change immigration policy and enforcement, or not. But I can still tell racism and hatred when I see it.

Miss Universe BusinessMay 29th, 2007 - 20:57:36

To the person that compared Miss Universe to the World Cup or Olympics; you are naïve.

Miss Universe is not a competition; it is a show for entertainment purposes only. And it is a business that needs to make money. If Miss USA does not make it into the top 5, then Americans will switch off the television. If Americans switch off the television, then advertisers will not buy commercials. If Miss Universe does not sell commercials, then Trump doesn’t make any money.

The silly Mexicans that booed because they felt Miss USA did not deserve to be in the top 5 do not understand what Miss Universe is about. It’s about making Trump money, plain and simple. It is not similar to the World Cup or Olympics whereas the best team or person wins. (Well maybe not pair ice skating)

I'm not sure the reconquistas have thought through that 'send all the gringos back to Europe' plan...don't they realize how far they'd have to swim to get a job?

you totally hit the nail on the head-the audience was filled with the Spanish Mexicans, not the indian Mexicans, and the elite crowd and the corrupt government that uses the USA as their welfare plan were mocking us once again.

The only reason white people are in the USA, is because centuries ago the Native Americans did not have Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

A doctor crossing the border. A scientist crossing the border. A teacher crossing the border. Shouldn't the Mexicans be cheering us for taking in their homeless and uneducated? Ever heard of an American living illegally in Mexico, utilizing their medical facilities and not paying the bills? Or what about a group of Americans protesting in Cancun against Mexico's new immigration laws? Way I see it, we've become Mexico's welfare center, and the thanks we get is a loud boo. Come to think of it, if anyone has the right to boo it is America!!

Ok, let me if I can grasp this: They were booing Ms. America to protest the illegal immigration policy in the USA. Is this correct? If so, why the heck are they booing the fact that we are trying to enforce the law? Is it because Mexico is a lawless country and they are trying to make the USA a lawless country as well? If you don't like our laws, then don't come over here! It's that simple. Stay in Mexico! What part of ILLEGAL is it that you just don't get? You don't get to pick and choose which laws you follow and which you don't, at least not in America you don't. Mexico? I don't know. Maybe it is that way for you, but that's not how it works here. And would someone please tell me why I have press '1' for English?

No we're not liked because the world is jealous. They are jealous because they can't be the superpower. They want to be but they simply can't. Just like a child wanting to be the grown up. The world needs policing because it's littered with too many morons like yourself who look to blame others for their own short comings. This is the same logic that applies to countries like Israel. A small country with successful people surrounded by lazy poor people who blame them. What do they blame them for? Anything. It doesn't matter because it makes them feel good and it gives them reason to blow things up. Most of the world is poor and poor people simply don't like successful people because their dictators tell them not to like them. Look at Hugo Chavez, now here's a dictator who punishes successful people by telling the poor people that they are evil. He closes down businesses and brutalizes business owners. Same goes for Yasser Arafat and Ahmadinejad. Other people who control the poor like robots. It's a human nature problem. Misery loves company. I'm tired of hearing the rest of the world complain about America. The rest of the world needs to get a fucking life and stop giving us reasons to come in and kick your sorry asses every few years.
