In response there has been a mass exodus (thousands) of subs are canceling there subscription because 'pay for Un-censored Radio'. Xm Requires you to call in to cancel when you don't get a busy signal the hold times are ranging from 1 hour to 3 hours.

XM is offering free months and discount rates to keep subscribers, most are still canceling and asking for refunds, because there is no guarantee they will not be censored in the future. We pay for a service and expect the service we pay for to be as advertised 'Raw and Uncensored'. This is a breach of Contract and a First Amendment issue.

Actual Conversation:

operator ' Sir, they will be back uncensored when they come back.'

Customer 'Why are they suspended?'

Operator 'For what they said'

Customer 'and that is not Censorship?'

XM facing huge subscriber losses over suspension and possible firing of Opie & Anthony

XM satellite radio has suspended and is rumored to have fired shock jocks Opie & Anthony over comments that a homeless man made during his appearance on their program towards Condi Rice, Laura Bush and the Queen of England. Fans are showing their support in large numbers for the show by canceling their subscriptions. The angry subscribers are being offered an average of 3 free months of XM satellite radio .The vast majority of the fans are turning down that offer and canceling their subscriptions. Many of the fans had multiple XM units on their accounts. The average wait time to cancel is 1-2 hours due to the large volume of cancellations by dissatisfied customers.

If Creative Freedom has limits, then it's not a freedom. It seems to me that people somehow lost the freedom of speech. I'm glad I don't PAY for this service that gets overly censored, because I'd be ending my subscription due to this.

This trend of firing talk radio hosts for insulting the listening public has got to end. All of the statements made; were made with humorous intent. Are we not allowed to laugh at ourselves anymore? Comics like Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock have poked fun at race and sexual gender, yet they both have comedy specials that are constantly run on all networks.

A radio station hosted a contest that resulted in a woman’s unfortunate death. Yet, the press dropped the topic when the price of gas went up a penny.
How is it that we are allowing this trend to continue?

I decide what I find offensive...I then decide to turn off the TV or the Radio. Not to mention that I PAY a monthly service fee to listen to ADULT CONTENT on XM Radio. (Which I have cancelled since the suspension of Opie & Anthony)

This is AMERICA, we can say whatever we want, and that’s the beauty of living in this country. No one will take away my right to offend people. If you’re fat, you know it, so why not laugh at it.

It's been hard for me to put my thoughts into words over what has been happening over the past few weeks with censorship and the radio. It's a scary time for America. This has to stop. O&A have always been open and honest with their audience about things that have been going on with XM or with CBS. Why are they getting suspended over this NOW? I can't imagine my XM without O&A, so that's a goodbye to XM.

I don't understand why people do this. This radio show is meant for this sort of behavior. It's like going to their shows, it's meant for a laugh, but not meant to be taken seriously..they are comics, it's what they do. is XM really looking to loose that many subscribers or this lame incident? I guess they're willing to take a leap to shame.

Everything that could be said has been said already... If O and A go back on the air obviously the listners will return to xm. But the bottom line is there should not be consorship on pay radio... HBO has never been consored and I dont think xm202 should be either

You know I am a Sgt in the US Marine Corps who has two tours to Iraq under his belt. I believe in the war because we are providing freedom to people who haven't experienced the types of freedoms we've had here in America. But it seems it truley is worth nothing considering our freedoms and liberties are stripped from us back here on our own soil.

It's all just a ruse.

It's supposed to be hard to figure out - it ain't so hard.

O&A took advantage of the situation to engineer what they wanted with the cooperation of XM and Sirius.

Mel Karmizan has never liked them because since he was at CBS O&A screwed with his #1 property, Hoo-Hoo. Now Mel's going to be in charge of the merged company, and he's got $500M tied up in Hoo-Hoo; something had to give.

Plus O&A wanted back on FM real bad - XM let it happen but Karmizan said at the time he'd never go along with that at Sirius.

O&A know that there's no big audience on satellite, and satellite's struggling - how are they going to get bigger in a merged company with Hoo-Hoo dominating the scene, eating up all the bucks, his godfather heading up the whole thing?

So they made an arrangement - O&A get out of their contract with XM, XM and Sirius get to look like tough guys to convince Congress to vacate the anti-trust provisions of the satellite broadcasting legislation and O&A become CBS' hottest property. Who's left to compete with them? Imus is gone, Hoo-Hoo is talking to himself - they're the 800 pound gorillas of the broadcast airwaves.

But what do us po' folk out here in the boondocks get to listen to?

What folks need to keep in mind is that this isn't simply a matter of
what O&A/Imus/whomever has said that is so terribly offensive, it's
that freedom of speech is being limited. People have the right to
offend others. People who are offended have the right to not
listen.

Commentors have made mention about if HBO were to decide to
censor The Sopranos - this is an exact metaphor as to what XM is
doing to O&A. It is also setting precident for those who want to
limit the speech of liberal OR conserative talk show hosts because
they are offended (personally, I find Rush Limbaugh offensive on many
levels, therefore I don't listen to him). This is Big Brother coming.

I agree - if people want to listen to this garbage and will pay for it, let them. The rest of us don't have to buy into it. As for Rush 'Lumpbaugh', he is worse than any shockjock in my estimation - right along with Bill O'Reilly, and I don't listen or watch either one - as simple as that!

because of free speech, these idiots don't need to worry about being put in jail, but free speech does not guaranttee them a job!

if this is the only way to find 'humor' to fire up your boring life, sorry! you better find something else to do now...cancelling the XM may be a good start...

I would like it if the MEDIA stopped calling Howard, Opie and Anthony, Imus the Grease man or any other controversial Radio personality a Shock JOCK !!
Firstly it's a stupid word not befitting of use by our esteemed media secondly these guys don't play records or tapes or cd's with music on them so they are not even Disc Jockey's.
Now onto more important things..... The powers that BE in Radio or XM or SIRIUS have to STOP coming down on everyone for pushing the limits of free speach on the radio waves that's why it's controversial that's why they were hired that's what you wanted that's what you get !!
Nigga ! This Nigga that !! Nigga Nigga Nigga !! Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and a dozen or so other Colored comedians say stuff all the time that is controversial and they get applauded for it. ' I saw a white guy mowing his lawn !! ' That's the start of a whole bunch of other jokes with white in it.
If the Nigga's can do it the Crakka's can too !! So unless there is some kind of new ammendment stop coming down on the white Radio personalities !!
By the way STAR, Buckwild The Tsunami song, Hilarious loved it.
You should still have your jobs too.
