Samuel L. Jackson's mother used to make him wear sunglasses in church to hide his hangovers.
The 'Pulp Fiction' star - who is now teetotal after winning his battle with alcoholism - started drinking in his teens much to the displeasure of his mom who was embarrassed by his tired red eyes at Sunday mass.
Jackson revealed: I went to church every Sunday when I was growing up but by the time I got to high school my mom insisted I wear sunglasses because my eyes were so red from the night before. No matter how late I stayed out, I had to go to church the next day."
The 58-year-old actor stars as a blues-playing preacher, called Lazaurus, who kidnaps nymphomaniac Rae, played by Christina Ricci, to try and make her tame her wild ways in new movie 'Black Snake Moan'.
