First smart move in trying to win an appeal is not saying the cops hit on you. The cops are 'doing their job, risking their lives daily' Try super humble and everyone is right but you. It could get you a bit farther.

I want to know who I can petition to make sure she is put in jail. Wealthy folks who feel they are above the law are a hazard to themselves and others. She really does need to see what the simple life is. In prison.
First of all... Melissa, learn how to spell before you start defending someone who could care less what you think. Second, the law should be blind, however we have learned from previous LALA land exploits that it hasnt been. Maybe now, someone has examined what their job is. To judge according to the offense, not according to your status. Oh and think about this, do you really think (this is for melissa) that we would have gotten it better or worse. There are allot more things in the world to concern ourselves with, and this should be a blip on a screen. I will have to go vomit now just because I sat down to type a response, to this garbage. One last thing, instead of a writing campaign to the govenor, how about we stream our efforts to getting our troops back, and helping the poor of our country. Better use of time since your compasion for real life is vacant.

If you don't like her, just ignore her - don't buy magazines to read about her, etc. As someone said, it's the public who make these celebrities who they are by paying so much attention to everything they do. There are a few more important things out there to give your time to. And who really cares whether or not she learns anything from this or turns her life around, etc. She seems to be perfectly happy doing what she is doing, and no amount of criticism from anyone is going to change that - so move on!

In the UK they don't mess around. It doesn't matter who you are. If your caught, your caught and you will not just pay the fine but do the time.

I never did anything remotely like drinking and driving. I do not like Cameron Diaz and I HOPE Paris's parents are totally asshamed! If they are not then they deserve a child like her. Unfortunately she was born into a very famous family. Stars or famous people do not realize that young people are watching there every move and idolize what they do. There is nothing wrong with having a drink once in a while, but getting drunk and then getting behind the wheel is unacceptable behavior. Why doesn't her precious publicist drive her? I agree that she is a slut with too much money.

Why is everyone so upset about this no-talent, and why can't anyone spell on this site? And she is the one everyone is calling dumb!?
This girl has NO idea how so many people's reputations are contingent upon her very decision to serve her time. Does she not realize what a tremendous quagmire she's put herself in? I can see the downward spiral if she does not go to jail.
First of all, if she gets off the hook, that will be a bad reflection on the Judge and and the judicial system in the state of California. People were already pissed off about the OJ thing, so this is major strike number two. That ends up putting Governor Schwartenegger in a very precarious position, being both a celebrity and an employee of the Federal government. What does he propose to do about this situation. It is a reflection upon the California judicial system that affects him, the senators and the representatives in DC. Additionally, all the other 49 governors as well as the Federal government will be taking a look at how Governor Schwartzenegger were to handle the situation. If he was dumb enough to let the appeal go through (which I can't imagine he would allow to do), then the Federal government would question his ability to government and revoke any Federal funding that his state might need. It would also affect any Californial presidential candidates. Hopefully, it owuld never get that far, and I take it the judge will stick to his guns.
The second bit would be the Hilton family itself, the most direct effect. If Paris gets away scott free, that would give the impression that the Hilton family is above the law. What does that tell all the people investing in the Hilton chain? Mr. hilton and his family is above the law? you mean they can get away with anything? How do I know they won't embezzle my money and get away with it? How can i be sure that I get a good return on my investment now? If they feel insecure abotu that, they'll just pull their money out of the Hilton firm and put it elsewhere. What happens to hilton enterprise? I will come crashing down. If Hilton Enterprise loses money, rest assured, Daddy Hilton will throw a hissyfit and then will decide it's time to discipline his daughter. Oh by the way, Hilton hotels are all over the world, that would be a lot of money to lose! And speaking of all over the world, how would such an ordeal look to the other countries? United States cannot follow their own laws; who are they to tell us about running our country?
You want to make Paris Hilton change her ways, hit her daddy's pocket. If she's smart, she'll shut up and color.
