Mel B says her mother's cooking made her pile on the pounds during pregnancy.
The former Spice Girl, who gave birth to daughter Angel Iris earlier this month, was eating sensibly during her pregnancy until her mother arrived.
Mel revealed to Britain's OK! magazine: "Mum flew out about five weeks ago. Until she came out I was quite a slim pregnant woman. As soon as she arrived I was having Sunday dinners every day - I wanted them with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and stuffing. "I went from being pretty slim to a full pregnant woman. My mum nurtured me up."
Mel has now hired a personal trainer to help shed the weight she gained feasting on her mother's calorific cooking.
She explained: "I have a personal trainer called Joey Kormier and he has been killing me! He makes me eat salmon and I hate it! I've lost 10 pounds and a lot of inches in a little over a week. I'll be down to my goal weight of 120 to 125 pounds soon.
"Once I got pregnant I didn't feel like working out, I just ate and slept. After the baby arrived, I just wanted to get in shape."
