I think it should be axial 'load' not 'lode.' A lode is a pocket of minerals in the earth.

Cervical Spine Acute Bony Injuries :
Axial lode causes the vertebral body to burst. It involves both end plates and may intrude into the spinal canal. The fracture is unstable.

Question: Did Steve Austin deliver the same type of injury to Brett Hart to end his career? Or what is the real story with Brett? I know that he has suffered a stroke since retiring, but I can't remember details of how he was orininally injured. Thanks.

Shawn Michaels was announced as the special guest referee on RAW between the Undertaker vs. Bret Hart match for SummerSlam 1997. Bret came to ring side upset about the decision and slapped Vince McMahon's headset off, who was doing color commentating at that time and started yelling at him about making Shawn Michaels the referee. Then they started to fight, pulling shirts, and it was broken up right away.

Goldberg delivered a mule kick to Bret Hart in WCW. The injuries Bret suffered due to this kick essentially put an end to his career. My question is that I remember not too long after that WCW ran a vignette at the end of a Nitro show where Bret Hart calls out Goldberg in some desert and essentially runs over him in his car. since the severity of the injury was not necessarily known to everyone at that time (with perhaps the exception of Bret), afterward I began to think that the vignette might have been scripted and then Bret turned it into a shoot.
If my memory serves correctly, Bret was in the car and then attacked Goldberg with a shovel and laid him out. This was all scripted. It was several months after Bret had received the concussion that this storyline was put together.

I was a part timer for the then WWF; and I saw what happened in the ring.Steve said he couldn't feel his fingers for almost 3 minutes. No offense, but it is axial 'load'. Just thought I'd tossin my few cents worth.
