Tobey Maguire insists he only stars in movies he likes, and never takes on roles just for the money.
The 'Spider-Man 3' star, who was paid a staggering £8 million to reprise his role as the web-slinging superhero, insists he only commits to projects he believes in.
Tobey told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "When I read a script, it has nothing to do with the size of the budget or whether it has global appeal.
"I just want to tell stories and play different roles, and I always want to work with great filmmakers.
"I want to do everything, I feel it's all just beginning for me."
The 31-year-old also revealed he never realised the amount of hard work that went into promoting a film when he first embarked on his career.
He said: "When they asked me to do interviews, I didn't realise that part of the job was going out there and selling films.
"I wanted to be like Dustin Hoffman or Robert De Niro or Al Pacino and that didn't include being a spectacle or being on display in public."
