Sir Anthony Hopkins is a self-confessed beach bum.
The Oscar-winning star has lived on the California coast for 30 years and admits he loves just sitting around just doing nothing.
Hopkins, who became a US citizen in 2000, said in an interview with the Independent's Arts and Books Review magazine: "I drifted to the US 30 years ago and stayed.
"Some people in Britain think I sold out, but I don't care.
"I'm a beach bum. I enjoy life. Walking on the beach, painting, reading and composing music."
Despite enjoying the easy life, the 'Silence of the Lambs' actor insists the more he tries to avoid acting, the more movie roles he is offered.
Hopkins, 69, said: "The less interested I am, the more they keep offering me for roles, and if they seem like fun I'll take them. Life's pretty good.
"But I'm beginning to think that sitting in a damp trailer in the middle of a field somewhere is not the best way to spend my time. So I tend to be very choosy."
