Gillian Anderson's free holidays

Gillian Anderson would only take her family on holiday if a production company paid for it when she first shot to fame.
Despite receiving a good salary for her role in 'The X Files', the flame-haired actress was so mean with her cash she used to work during her time off to get free accommodation.
She said: "I remember once I went on a break and I had a really hard time spending money on flights - I just couldn't bring myself to waste my wages on that kind of luxury. So I decided that I'd do interviews while I was away. That way, the production company could pay for my holiday. So I basically worked during my only time off, dragging my husband and child to God knows how many f***ing countries."

OMG *Frustrated* talk about miss quoting. When she said this she was talking about how she has reconsidered her priorities since leaving the X-Files and now very much puts her family first. It wasn't about a scam to get free flights - she paid for her family to fly whereever she had to go for work...but her point was she should not have dragged them half way round the world!
As for her being tight with money I suggest anyone that believes that takes a look and the numereous charities she is heavily involved with!
