Britney Spears' father believes she has only herself to blame if she loses custody of her sons and fails to revive her career.
James Spears has written an open e-mail to her former manager Larry Rudolph - who the singer fired last Friday (13.04.07) - apologising for her behaviour and thanking him for all he tried to do for his daughter.
Britney's dad wrote: "When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done. She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life.
"The Spears family would like to publicly apologise to Larry for our daughter's statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career. Larry has always been there for Britney. For this, we will forever be grateful to him."
Britney has responded by saying her father has never understood her.
In a statement released through her representative, she said: "I am praying for my father. We have never had a good relationship. It's sad that all the men that have been in my life do not know how to accept a real woman's love. I am concentrating on my work and my life right now."
The 'Toxic' singer was reportedly ashamed she had to go to rehab to protect her public image on Rudolph's advice, when she felt she had no addiction problems.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "She had no drugs in her system when she was admitted to Promises - they ran tests and there was nothing. She was embarrassed she had to go in there when she knew she was suffering from postpartum depression, not a drug or alcohol problem.
"Britney's aunt had just died of cancer. She was feeling very guilty because she hadn't been there with her, she was overwhelmingly depressed and she shaved her head in solidarity."

How could you say things like that about britany. Trust me sweetie your life would look so nice if we (america) put you in a fish bowl and over exposed any and everything you ever did. She is a growing women learning from her mistakes. Besides you cant steal someone else man. He man the decision to leave her not britany. Star aint mad so why are you. Kevin aint leave you!
Britney's dad is a loser, a disgrace to his family and daughter.
Britney's dad should keep quiet and go back to jail or AA house
were he belongs. Britney is the greatest singer and pop artist
in America, we should be proud of having such an outstanding
person with us. Best wishes to Britney, shame on her loser dad.
nikki how many stars are in a fish bowl and are doing just fine. and another thing read your own comment-you really should proof read before you send in
stop talking bad about her you don't know her so just back off nobody cares what yall think anyway. Ya'll are just little specks to everyone else and ya'll are just jealous of her!
Hey y'all,
It's been kind of an awkward year. For a while there I was mostly hiding behind bushes, or running upstairs and slamming the door and locking it and turning up my Fall Out Boy CD really loudly to drown out the sounds of my sister banging on it and yelling at me to braid her hair, or rip out her hair, or try getting a brush through her hair, or wash her hair, or tell her she had pretty hair -- or toward the end, lotion up her scalp. I tried to be there for her, because I love her, but sometimes, a girl's just gotta hide under the bed with her BlackBerry and her stuffed dog Mr. Muffins.
Right?'Still, I'm here, and I'm doing swell! I'm a little overtanned -- all that time under the bed made me a little pasty, and I got overexcited when I snuck out to buy bronzer -- but otherwise, really, I look pretty great. Or at least that's what everyone keeps telling me. Well, okay, Britney didn't say that; she asked me to spot her $20 and then told me my shoes could fetch a nice price on eBay if I never wore them again. But my brother saw me and burst into tears and said something like, 'It's a miracle' and muttered words like 'normal' and 'dodge' and 'bullet' into my shoulder while he was sobbing on it, and my mother didn't say anything, but while she was locking my chastity belt's bonus padlock, she looked really relieved and proud for a second. In fact, I'm getting a lot of that -- people keep squeezing me on the shoulder, or hugging me extra tight, and telling me how clean I look as they wipe the tears out of their eyes. I'm not sure why they're so emotional, although apparently Hilary Duff's new album is really raw so maybe they were just listening to that on their iPods. I can't wait to put out an album.
Mom said I could become a singer on the 10th of Never, but then B came in and threw a vase at her and then tried to light her copy of Crossroads on fire, so I never got to sit down and ask her when that is, but I think it's, like, Roman for 'November,' which... AWESOME! I had better get writing! Get ready, y'all!'
Spears recently rehired her former publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnick, whom Britney had fired last year.
Sloane-Zelnick, of BWR Public Relations agreed to give Page Six the following statement:
Britney, speaking through her rep, says, 'I am praying for my father. We have never had a good relationship. It's sad that all the men that have been in my life do not know how to accept a real woman's love. I am concentrating on my work and my life right now.'
Then, to counterbalance that awful statement, Spears' publicist planted the following item in the paper, claiming to be a 'pal' of the recovering addict.
'[Britney] had no drugs in her system when she was admitted to Promises - they [tested her] and there was nothing. She was embarrassed she had to go in there when she knew she was suffering from postpartum depression, not a drug or alcohol problem.'
As for the bizarre head-shaving incident, her publicist the pal continued, 'Britney's aunt had just died of cancer. She was feeling very guilty because she hadn't been there with her, she was overwhelmingly depressed and she shaved her head in solidarity.'
Bullshit!!!
Leslie Sloane-Zelnick should be ashamed of herself!
Who should anyone give even a second to this trainwreck except maybe someone like Nikki??? Most of you know what I mean!
Don't get so upset everyone - just don't buy her records, magazines reporting about her, etc., and maybe she'll go away. These so-called entertainers didn't get where they are without the gullible public buying into whatever they are selling!!! Think about it!!!!
Britney should have to go to jail. She should have to get sober...in jail. And her kids should have to visit her...in jail. And if anyone buys another record of hers they should have to go to...jail.
I have never understood the interest in Britney Spears. Yes, I read about her. I only started doing so after her life started coming undone. It's human nature, and makes you go wow my life really is not that bad. However, when she was at the top of her game I could care less. I never thought her music was that good, and her voice is pretty darn basic. She has never evolved artistically. She will never be a Christina Agulaira. Now, there is a person who has grown into a woman in her personal life and artistically. Britney would of been better off hanging out with Christina, rather than Paris. That whole show was a media blitz that back fired. It seems who ever Paris hangs with goes down real fast. Britney only has herself to blame for the choices she has made. Honestly I do not think she has the artistic talent to revive her career. She would have to change her music style, and bring it from the soul, which in my opinion her music has never had. I wish her the best of luck, and hope she grows into the person she needs to be. Maybe she should call Pink. Another woman that has it together.
it started out with little teenyboppers when Britney was very young, otherwise, I don't know what her appeal would be now for anyone.
I think that it is no wonder Ms. Spears has issues her own family is not supporting her. Mr. Spears needs to allign with ho daughter not against her.
Get yourself some parenting skills Mr. Spears.

very well said leslie- i couldn't have put it better myself. i'm glad other people can see what a pathetic excuse of a human being britney has become. she needs to grow up. you aren't having post partum you're having a break down and anyone that loves you should be encouraging you to go to not only rehab but counseling. you think rehab screwed up your image honey your are sadly mistaken it started with your first marriage and then you're home wrecking marriage and then your outrageous partying. don't blame paris because at least while she's partying and being out of control when she gets called on it she knows nobody did it but her. a real women takes responsibiltiy for there own actions. in the words of alec baldwin maybe your dad shouldn't be apologizing for you maybe he should be 'straightening your ass out'. britney get a grip your hurting everyone around you that truley loves you as well as yourself. but most importantly your CHILDREN.
