Gee, who's the raciest---Don Imus or Jesse Jackson? Imus has helped both races. What has Jackson ever done for whites. Besides trying to take us back to the 50's and 60's conflicts between races. Martin Luther King would never have done that. He was a peaceful and forgiving soul. Someone who tried to pull people together. And he didn't line his pockets in the process.
There's never any excuse for insulting women on a physical level. But, Imus said 'If I were a punk on the street, I'd call them ho's' He wasn't being racist, he was emulating the sub-culture of violence and hatred that we, as decent folk, black or white, have grown to despise. Imus was fired because MSN lost money by losing sponsors, not because he said something 'racist'. He DID however, say something stupid and sexist. These two 'kill-whitey' hate mongers that call themselves 'reverends' need a lesson in two things: What the truth really is (blacks have become the 'racists' in our society) and what it means to be a 'real' Christian. 'Real Christians' believe in love and forgiveness. These two animals have stated that they'll never forgive him, or anyone else that they feel has 'offended' black people. Hmmm, what do they have to say about the black guy who called me an 'ugly f*ckin' cracker ho!' because I'm married and didn't want to have a drink with him? They would probably laugh if I demanded a public appology! They should give Imus his job back, and deport the 'reverends' back to Africa.
Great post. Imus committed no crime however he did set up the two racists to become even more visible to their fans.
By the way, did anybody take a look at that Rutger team???? I mean HOLY SHIT and AMEN Don, good eye buddy. I'll buy your next book.
I think CBS crumbled under pressure. What ever happened to freedom of speech? Much worse is said on regular network TV than what Imus said. If this much happens for 'nappy-headed hos' I wonder what will happen if someone says somemthing less insulting. This whole situation is ridiculous.
When will Al Sharpton apologize for comment he made about the Duke Lacrosse Team? I think as a good faith gesture any fair person should boycott CBS, MSNBC, General Motors, American Express, Bigelow Tea, GlaxoSmithKline, PetMed Express, Proctor and Gamble, Sprint Nextel, Staples, and DiTech for their gutless actions and disloyalty to Don Imus. It isn't about freedom of speech. Imus is a shockjock. The comment wasn't that bad and shouldn't be any surprise. I watched the game and Rutgers did look thuggish compared to Tennessee but it was a joke. I'm sure the comment did not affect Rutgers 'doctors and lawyers of tomorrow' as bad as it is being played out. It's okay when he ripped on Jews and Catholics, but God forbid make any reference to someone who is black and we have a riot. People of different walks of life make fun of themselves and others all the time whether it's ethnic, fat, bald, disabled whatever and that okay. But according to Al Sharpton only an African American can make a joke about anoher African American or any of their stereotypes.
Free speech is not guaranteed speech. It only applies to governments, not corporations.
Imus was a professional and simply errored. Boo Hoo.
Anyone care to ask why these corporations hire him to begin with?
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson make me sick. They pretend to have some sort of moral authority, but they are in this (as always) for their own self-aggrandizement. But even worse, are the hypocrites (all white) that went on the Imus show and are now condemning the man for what he said. The show has been like this for the last 30 years. They knew what the deal was, and decided to play along. You can’t have it both ways—want to sell books and not appear to see out. They should all be ashamed.
I have listened to the Imus show for 20 years. I agree that what he said was not right—but only for one reason. The girls at Rutgers did not deserve it. However, I doubt that portraying them as scarred for life is really accurate, just more journalistic hyperbole to get ratings and sell papers.
I still have to get up and go to work tomorrow. It is a shame that Imus won’t make the drive a little better.
What I'd like to know is - while Imus is trying to raise money for good causes, how much did Jesse and Al shakedown CBS and NBC for this time? Greedy money grubbers who have done nothing to advance their own race. Wait a minute, good old Jesse did get his girlie friend on the payroll and managed to spin her some serious cash for getting out of his hair. Anyone hear Snoop today speaking of Imus? What's the difference between him, Jesse and Al? I guess Snoop hasn't prayerfully counseled with Bill and Hilary yet.
This is so damn stupid! So Imus is a cruel bastard, while anybody else can say whatever they want....whenever they want.....because they are 'only joking'...as long as they're not white. Funny, we used to call this racism. Apparently, stupidity IS colored.
