Who cares....
When is someone going to unplug Racist Al Sharpton?
Don Imus is a national hero for saying what everyone feels when they see disgusting, vulgar tattoos on young athletic women....it's disgusting to see on the men, as well. College administrators encourage these sickening public displays.
Wow lets see 3 rich white guys and the exotic dancer all of a sudden changes story, umm was money involved or were these guys truly innocent... lets think for money than just a second people
Ah, the hypocrisy goes on and on. Fine, Imus' comments were wrong, and that basketball team didn't do anything to deserve them. Explain how his comments were racist? Because that terminology is used to refer to 'African-American' (I use that term with contempt) women? But by who? Typically their men? This is no more than the continuation of a double-standard that has been growing more prominent, where through some stupid sense of 'politcal correctness' or 'racial guilt' we have to endure this kind of BS. From Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson comes more BS, these guys who are capitalizing on the political power that comes because they walked next to a guy who wanted EQUALITY and not this... this farce of justice and double standard. It seems 'African-Americans' are still enslaved, but they have merely shifted masters to ones that wear similarly-colored faces, and trade their freedom for promises of a life on 'cruise control'...
Finally there has been some sort of accountability with the radio industry. He deserved to get canned.
This whole dumb episode is just manufactured outrage.
Imus should never have appologised. he should stand up and admit he is a klansmen and burn his cross proudly, in his own front yard.
Don Imus' so-called 'humourous' radio pig sty has a history of racism and misogyny. He called PBS anchor woman Gwen Ifill 'a cleaning lady;' former Sec. of Defense William Cohen 'Mandingo' because he's married to an African-America woman (the very beautiful Janet Langhart) and called her a 'ho' which means , lest we forget, whore. His producer, Bernard McGirk said the Sen Hillary Clinton would wear 'cornrows and gold teeth' to garner black votes. To Imus and McGirk and their multitude of fans, African-American men are 'chimps; gorillas and pimps'-not to mention his remarks about Jews and Latinos.
And, when he runs for cover, it's inevitably, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev.Al Sharpton who are at fault. They, however, have no history of calling women bitches and whores in the public arena.
He denigrates and insults specific ehtnicities to the delight of his staff and audience. He spews hatred over the public airways. And, until now, the white owned media has kept a less-than-discreet silence. 'Cause it's all about the benjamins.
Now, he has been exposed for all to see and the rats are jumping overboard. And we are supposed to feel sorry for this $10,000,000 a year slob? Give me a break!
Oh, and so it was Al Sharpton who falsely accused the LaCrosse players and therefore needs to apologize according to dapper Don Imus! I didn't know! I had no idea! Shame, shame on me!
Imus is a loud jerk; no surprise there, that's why he still has sponsors and a radio program after all these years.
But in all this flood of righteous outrage, did I miss Reverend Al Sharpton's apology for the lives he ruined in the Tawanna Brawley fraud?
Spin the radio dial these days: there are plenty of rascists to go around.
Way to go IMUS. Fight Back. Its about time someone puts sharpton under attack. It works both ways.
PS, Great work IMUS, on your Telethon. Thats more than sharptons ever done for the community.
Good for Don Imus, enough is enough.
I for one am sick to death of The Reverand Most Rightous Al and Hey Look at Me I'm on TV Jesse and their race-baiting tactics.
Go get em Don. Demand Al Sharpton apologize for his Racist remarks.
Perhaps the worst part of this is that now the NC attorney general has sent the message out, by not bring charges against the accuser, that it’s ok to ruin the lives of these kids and costing the state, media, etc. many millions of dollars chasing down lies and false accusations.
I totally agree.
WHO CARES.
He only told the truth.........
Go get em Don. Demand Al Sharpton apologize for his Racist remarks.
take him off the air...do a little research and you will find that this is not the first time he's gone too far. Enough of this, and enough of Don Imus...some goon who thinks power by far outweighs consequence, and cannot help but shoot his mouth off like a twelve year old.
waaaaaaa! i'm don Imus, crying like a little baby!!! waaaaaaaaa
Ironic how Charles Barkley can comment 'that's why I hate whote people' and still have many jobs in the media. Chris Rock can joke on white people all day long and no one says a word. Imus is as much an 'entertainer' as Rock but I guess 'freedom of speech' has a double standard?
Go get em Don. Demand Al Sharpton apologize for his Racist remarks.
Imus is on the mark.
Let's have an apology from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
These two 'ambulance chasers' are always stirring up trouble before investigating the facts, remember Tawana Brawley and all of the slander?
Jesse Jackson has made very racist remarks in his past.
I don't listen to Imus, I don't like his radio format, and those people who are might be offened should just turn the dial. Don't listen.
But I feel that this has gone too far. Imus has apologized, and I believe that he is sincere.
The whole Imus affair smells to me like a publicity stunt. However, on the chance that it's not, it is gratifying to see Imus' refusal to fold in the face of Brother Sharpton's attacks. A more arrantly hypocritical sleazebag than Sharpton does not exist.
When is Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson going to be revealed for what they are:
Media Hounding Extortionists! They know it is true. They would not have a career if the lazy producers of media think that they are the 'go to' guys every time an adverse situation rears its head concerning African Americans. I am Black and know of no Black's that see them as their 'representative' regarding issues of race. Al & Jesse are not Black, they are GREEN. Green like money. They are in some auto-mode when a mic and camera show up in front of them. Imus said he is sorry, and I believe him.
Imus should have known better; doesn't he realize the only population that it is politically correct to demean in hurtful and harmful ways is white males!
You can not excuse or justify bad behavior by citing charity works or fund
raising you've done. Priests in the Catholic Church for years were abusing the youth trusted to their care while the church leaders chose to overlook this
abuse because the priest continued to lead mass, keep catholic schools
filled, increased or maintained amount of tithes from parishioners, etc.
Teachers are becoming sexually and emotionally involved with their
students but they continue to do an adequate teaching job in the classroom.
Politicians are voting on legislation to protect our youth from abuse while
abusing those youth who still believe in our government while doing and
adequate job in office.
The ability to function in a positive, charitable way while engaging in
abusive, cruel, immoral, and illegal acts is the norm in this country and
will continue to happen once these despicable acts are exposed if we allow
the perpetrators to excuse or minimize their behavior.
Ironic how Charles Barkley can comment 'that's why I hate white people' and still have many jobs in the media. Chris Rock can joke on white people all day long and no one says a word. Imus is as much an 'entertainer' as Rock but I guess 'freedom of speech' has a double standard?
Does anyone think for a moment that blacks (men and women) don't call white women HO! If you're that foolish, you have no clue of what is happening. If Imus had a clue he'll use this opportunity to change and turn the tables on those on the left who are going after him for being WHITE and OLD and WEAK.
Billy Bob is an idiot. Klansman? Imus has raised millions for charity, built hospitals, and a ranch for kids with cancer. What have Sharpton and Jesse done except pimp for themselves and breed a new culture of victems. Anyone who has listened to Imus for mor than a week knows his style, but whining liberals and sissy boy wussies suddenly wake up only when a black person feels hurt. How many black people have benefited from his philanthropy? What charities has Jackson and Sharpton supported? Neither of them made a peep when Leornard Jeffries made his anti semitic and anti white comments at City University 'cause he happens to be brother. I'm a white cracker Jew boy who has been called 'nigger' by blacks (among other things) and I've gotten over it. Hopefully the spinal columns of the Rutgers basketball team will someday develop into full maturity.
He only told the truth.........
by the way....sharpton and jackson ARE nappy-headed TOO......TRUTH hurts huh??
Amazing how we all take things like this so seriously. It wasn't the most racist thing somebody has said over the radiowaves. Not even close. Yet, there is Jesse Jackson and the unbelieveably hypocritical Al Sharpton. Two of the world's biggest headline whores.
ALL people have some sort of racial bias ingrained in there psyche. Nobody's perfect. Why can't people just stop acting like the 'sky is falling'. You can't say a full sentence these days without some person or group crying foul. Big deal. Grow up and get over it. This is becoming absolutely ridiculous.
o.k., regardless of Imos is a racist or not...he is a terrible radio personality anyway and should be fired because he is unlistenable. And as far as racists Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson... why are they 'representatives' of the african-american people? they are more racist than my very southern racist great-grand parents. lets stop this crap people. why have we let these people turn our media into a joke.
come on america.. stop crying and bitching about everything.this country has become a country full of whinners. stop people. grow up and worry about yourselves.

Imus is a 'shock jock', paid to attract an audience by saying outrageous things. He said outrageous things and had one of his outlets decide not to carry his show anymore.
Bill Maher suffered a similar fate when his farther than far left rhetoric about 9/11 got him kicked off ABC. He ended up on HBO where his income has multiplied and he is still advocating the assassination of members of the Administration.
Imus will be back even if his detractors keep flipping the race card in his face. Because pretty soon Imus's supporters are going to start pointing up the non-reason for being for his detractors and they will back off -- because they don't want anyone to take a real look at how much they spend and their personal lives.
Frankly, everyone gets rewarded in this incestous relationship -- the Shock Jocks get paid to offend and others (Like Rev. Sharpton and the Administration in the two examples) get paid to get them fired, which gets them publicity and new gigs and the whole cycle starts again.
But the scary thing is that the same general cast of characters is going to be feeding us our information during the next 19 months as we elect a President. Hey, I trust all these sleaze balls to help us get the best candidate elected. Not.
What is sad is that these girls are being used by the Rev Sharpton and others and not letting this go away. They are hurt, not som much by the comment but by the continuation of a story that should be over and done. I would not let my dougher go on oprah in poor me story where I would be nothing more than a pawn.
Where is the outrage in a cuture in which 70% of all childred are born out of wedlock to single parents. Where is the outrage of lack of strong leaders in the black coimmunity, where is the outrage that 110+ peole have been killed in PHL this year mostly black on black.
Imus was wrong, apologized and was punished - he make millions but also raises millions for charities and kids with cancer. Mr Sharpton, what have you done today to help the underpriveged - you rubbed in in their face to justify your loud pulpit.
Racism continues to exist because of 'you people'- Al
Imus's apology should suffice now and he should keep his job.
In case Rev. Sharpton & Jackson and others forget: It's Christan to forgive. After all, Christ teaches us - His most important lesson - ' forgive even those who crucify him'
rev. rac.
word.
I agree that what Imus said was terrible, but again where is the Rev Al Sharpton on the Duke case? What about the Rappers, comedians and what they say? Did he ever acknowledge what he did to the innocent mans life in the Tawan Brawly case!
I demand Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton apologize for their previous statements and then they should resign and be removed from the 'air waves'...
fair is fair
If Imus was black... this would be a non-issue. This is perfectly acceptable language in the black community.
The hypocrisy that has been attached to this story is unbeleivable. How did it go from Imus the Idiot making his blantant racist and sexist remarks to dialogue about the Duke lacrosse team and gangster rappers saying 'ho' in their songs ??? You have to wonder what country this jerk lives in - does he not know that black folks are still being lynched TODAY. Yes, we have a problem within the Black community that centers around self-hatred - but where did that come from - when the majority culture using all forms of media, textbooks, etc. to denegrate Blacks and diminish or totally ignore the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans to this country - what the heck do you expect. Our young people have no hope and we have some responsibility in that - but when we are refused opportunities, what can you expect. When black men (teenagers and above) are stopped simply for driving while black - you can't tell me that somewhere along the line their psyche is not affected - it either turns to self-hatred or anger that is projected onto other people.
Any fool that believes that Don Imus got his words and thoughts from hip-hop artists needs to be committed to an insane asylum.
So, when do the riots begin?
I hope this Imus situation is awake up call to all broadcasters including BET, MTV, VH1. The double standards that these outlets live by won't cut it anymore. Perhaps broadcasting to the lowest comon denominator is not the way to go. I think many people are feed up with promoting 'gangster' anything.
so the thought police have now descended upon a fellow left winger. I have to agree with Imus, however, regarding the hypocrisy of the media and the assorted critics . Imus has overlooked the twin corollaries of leftist hypocrisy when it comes to race. (1) Comments are only racist when uttered by a white male. (2) Minorities are allowed to say whatever they want as long as they stay 'on the plantation' and spew liberal dogma. I wonder how many of Imus' critics sat on their hands and said nothing against the racist attacks and oreo-cookie tossing to which a black (and Republican) Senate candidate was subjected in Maryland last election? How about the attacks on Clarence Thomas? Nope, the thought police even look the other way for Robert Byrd (the former Grand Dragon) while attacking Trent Lott. I despise racism but I am sick of the grandstanding and the empty rhetoric.
I do not, nor, do I know of anyone, black or white, that holds Al Sharpton accountable for the woes of the entire black community. Why should Sharpton be asked to apologize for what happened in North Carolina. He wasn't involved in that particular incident. If anyone cares to remember, it was Imus who asked to go on to Sharpton's show. The Duke incident is regretable, but the unprovoked attack on the Rutger's girls is unforgiveable.
If Jackson and Sharpton are Reverends of the Christian faith ... where is their forgivness for a man who apologizes (admits he made a mistake)! I don't like Imus, but to destroy him wiht their hypocrisy for their own political and monitary gain is far worse than what Imus has done with a comment that was wrong. How do any of us change without making mistakes?
Are we all so timid as to allow these bright, talented women to become victims.
They attend a great universiy, are gifted on many levels, but now we ask them to become the victims of a tasteless, crude remark.
Let's not. There are so very many more real life issues that smack of racism and sexism that really injure people who aren't early as fortunate as these young ladies.
That leaders of the African-American community are now saying that it is about protecting the 'public airwaves' from the loss of civility lacks credulity. The tragic loss of young African-American boys and men to crime and despair is much more an issue than some old white guy spewing forth ignorance. Return civilty to these neighborhoods and then we can begin to have the airwaves 'reflect' this dynamic of our society.
Let the outrage and indignation begin there.
To all those boohooing dapper Don Imus lovers out there: All I can say is, B-bw-bwahahahahaha! Gasp! Hahahahahahaha! He got what was coming to him and Rev. Al didn't get what should have been coming to him! Bwahahahahahahahaha!
The loss of Imus really stinks!!!!!!
As a black woman, I must say that the comments made by Mr. Imus (I use the term Mister loosely)were unnecessary, hurtful and simply displayed how far we have yet to go in understanding one another though different in color. I don't think he should be fired but rather take classes which will help him see that you can say what you'd like without calling people out of their name. That being said, I want others to know that Al Sharpton is not nor has ever been a leader of the black community. I'm ashamed when I hear him or the Reverend (yea right) Jesse Jackson jumping to the aide of someone of color, simply for their own gain. There are so many major issues that need to be addressed within the black community it's not funny, but you won't here anything about what they are doing or have done to help rebuilt self esteem in the youth of today and hold parents responsible for raising people who are productive citizens! If you haven't noticed already, this world is going to HELL in a hand basket and the more we put each other down and have a 'them against us' attitude, we will only sink deeper into the pit that we've dug for ourselves as human beings. Mark my words!
I don't listen to Imus, and I don't listen to Stern. I'm not into shock radio. The point I am making, is that I have the power of the knob... I can turn them off. No one needs to be fired, after all, this is a free country, and the last time I checked, we do have the right of free speech. If Imus is canned, that will be up to his bosses. He can always get a job working for K-HICK in the sticks.
When the solders at Walter Reed wanted to call home and could not because of cost it was Imus who wrote a check for 10,000 for phone cards.
When help was need to build a new medical rehab center for solders is was Imus who first contributed 250,000 of his own money then solicited contributions from other wealthy people to build the new mulit-million dollar facility.
When there was a lack of support for the combating autisim act from a key Congressman. it was Imus that used the airwaves to annoounce the missue of power.
What about Joe Lieberman when the rest of the Democrat friends had deseted him it was Imus that consistantly supported him.
Not to add that he and his wife (Deedra) run an 1800's cattle ranch for kids with cancer, as well as support a host of a other charities.
Anyone that has ever listened to Imus knows he has a pention for on off humor. He is not a racist or hate monger. Guilty of off color remarks yes, racism no.
Let one of these people that have so loudly ask for his removal come with a light year of the contributions he has made.
Sooooo . . . . 'The loss of Imus really stinks!' huh? Bwahahahahahahaha! Sniff it, Jerry!
Al Sharpton and Opray Winfrey are the biggest racists in the country. Why don't they come down on that HO that tried to hang the lacrosse players? How about the OJ trial. If OJ was white and Nicole black, L.A. would still be burning. Why didn't they bitch about the beating Reginald Denny took at the hands of those monkey's, that dragged him from a truck and nearly killed him. How come in the world of sports 99% of the time it's blacks that are involved in crimes that most of us would be put in prison for and they get slapped on the hands for it. Come Sharpton, Jackson, and big mouth Winfrey comment on these things, or is it just a black thing that we don't understand. Imus should be given a medal.

Thank you, Don Imus. You’ve given us (black people) an excuse to avoid our real problem.
You’ve given Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson another opportunity to pretend that the old fight, which is now the safe and lucrative fight, is still the most important fight in our push for true economic and social equality.
You’ve given Vivian Stringer and Rutgers the chance to hold a nationally televised recruiting celebration expertly disguised as a news conference to respond to your poor attempt at humor.
Thank you, Don Imus. You extended Black History Month to April, and we can once again wallow in victimhood, protest like it’s 1965 and delude ourselves into believing that fixing your hatred is more necessary than eradicating our self-hatred.
The bigots win again.
While we’re fixated on a bad joke cracked by an irrelevant, bad shock jock, I’m sure at least one of the marvelous young women on the Rutgers basketball team is somewhere snapping her fingers to the beat of 50 Cent’s or Snoop Dogg’s or Young Jeezy’s latest ode glorifying nappy-headed pimps and hos.
I ain’t saying Jesse, Al and Vivian are gold-diggas, but they don’t have the heart to mount a legitimate campaign against the real black-folk killas.
It is us. At this time, we are our own worst enemies. We have allowed our youths to buy into a culture (hip hop) that has been perverted, corrupted and overtaken by prison culture. The music, attitude and behavior expressed in this culture is anti-black, anti-education, demeaning, self-destructive, pro-drug dealing and violent.
Rather than confront this heinous enemy from within, we sit back and wait for someone like Imus to have a slip of the tongue and make the mistake of repeating the things we say about ourselves.
It’s embarrassing. Dave Chappelle was offered $50 million to make racially insensitive jokes about black and white people on TV. He was hailed as a genius. Black comedians routinely crack jokes about white and black people, and we all laugh out loud.
I’m no Don Imus apologist. He and his tiny companion Mike Lupica blasted me after I fell out with ESPN. Imus is a hack.
But, in my view, he didn’t do anything outside the norm for shock jocks and comedians. He also offered an apology. That should’ve been the end of this whole affair. Instead, it’s only the beginning. It’s an opportunity for Stringer, Jackson and Sharpton to step on victim platforms and elevate themselves and their agenda$.
I watched the Rutgers news conference and was ashamed.
Martin Luther King Jr. spoke for eight minutes in 1963 at the March on Washington. At the time, black people could be lynched and denied fundamental rights with little thought. With the comments of a talk-show host most of her players had never heard of before last week serving as her excuse, Vivian Stringer rambled on for 30 minutes about the amazing season her team had.
Somehow, we’re supposed to believe that the comments of a man with virtually no connection to the sports world ruined Rutgers’ wonderful season. Had a broadcaster with credibility and a platform in the sports world uttered the words Imus did, I could understand a level of outrage.
But an hourlong press conference over a man who has already apologized, already been suspended and is already insignificant is just plain intellectually dishonest. This is opportunism. This is a distraction.
In the grand scheme, Don Imus is no threat to us in general and no threat to black women in particular. If his words are so powerful and so destructive and must be rebuked so forcefully, then what should we do about the idiot rappers on BET, MTV and every black-owned radio station in the country who use words much more powerful and much more destructive?
I don’t listen or watch Imus’ show regularly. Has he at any point glorified selling crack cocaine to black women? Has he celebrated black men shooting each other randomly? Has he suggested in any way that it’s cool to be a baby-daddy rather than a husband and a parent? Does he tell his listeners that they’re suckers for pursuing education and that they’re selling out their race if they do?
When Imus does any of that, call me and I’ll get upset. Until then, he is what he is — a washed-up shock jock who is very easy to ignore when you’re not looking to be made a victim.
No. We all know where the real battleground is. We know that the gangsta rappers and their followers in the athletic world have far bigger platforms to negatively define us than some old white man with a bad radio show. There’s no money and lots of danger in that battle, so Jesse and Al are going to sit it out.

a fan of his for years and always will be - America get a life. Free speech?
If you are going to ban him, ban all rap music, hard rock lyrics etc. - stop making a mountain out of a molehill and get on with you lives......
sharpton needs to get a life.what happen to freedom of spesch?
JASON WHITLOCK, Columnist, says: 'The bigots win again!' Indeed they do! Halilujah! Bwahahahahahahaha! Suffer, Whitlock!
Sharpton, Jackson and 24 hour media will keep the fire burning on this to exploit there own agendas. It's no longer about Imus.
Enough.
This is a travesty.
Watching the Iman appologize to the fullest daily has been hard to watch. After hearing the original comment live it was something that caught my ear and I knew it was a mistake.
What's happened here is a *smoke out* no news more important apparently, a war in the middle east, a president with a mockery of an approval rating, and more mortgage fall out expected...Guess not.
The reason I have MSNBC is for the Imus in the morning program and I won't be long cancelling my subscription.
If I listen beyond the disgust and outrage of the basketball teams comments during the news conferrence I hear a common theme. Here are a group of outstanding intelligent women willing to listen to a man they never needed to know existed before Easter weekend, they were attempting to enjoy time with their families and got caught in a frenzy. ...*I was trying to enjoy my weekend home but ...*
It's funny how this icon of radio who stood up to all the :big feeling: people of the world, all the *phony weasels* (he would call them)and the corporate machine has succumbed to them. All the folks who sold books, records, and won electoral platforms by voicing their opinions on the Imus program were nowhere to be found in his time of need. All the interviews that were aired on his show of the people with the guts to be on Monday and Tuesday this week should be replayed in primetime, there was an outpouring of sympathy that alot of people have not yet heard.
The Corporate machine reigns strong, NBC saying the main reason was not lack of sponsorship? I find that hard to believe. Imus in the morning is the alternative to the fake smiles and antidepressant eating hosts of the 'G'Morning'-Shows...He's a real person, and I think thats been lost in the shuffle. Real People make real mistakes.
The hypocracy is terrible, Sharpton and Jackson have ran too far with this and have been out for blood, they almost have it. Lets Cauterize this wound, let the I-Man breath and make something good of this. He's more than capable.
MSNBC without Imus is equivalent to a CNN without Larry and Foxnews without Bill.
The media must love this...now there's an opportunity for every 'expert' in the world to get his/her mug on TV. All of these 'experts' are like Snapping Turtles...they don't know when to let go! Don Imus made a comment he shouldn't have. He has apoligized over and over...it's time to let this thing go and move on...must be a slow news month now that we 'know who the father is'.
It must be contagious, I can't help myself; but this dust up will give a 'whole new meaning to the acronym NBC'!
Let's hope it doesn't carry forward to 'CBS'.
NBC Please!
(See, I told you I couldn't help myself).
Seriously though, punishing Imus, and more importantly, his listeners; seems an odd way to go about enforcing political correctness. When will broadcasters and corporations recognize that consumers don't want their 'social engineering' or 'political guidance'. American's are really dreadfully tired of the constant victim hood that Al and Jesse foist on the public. Imus has done more hands on good work than both these self serving little martinets put together. It was laughable when I heard one of the Rutger's players say that she wanted to 'axe' Imus why he said these things. No explanation necessary honey. Apparently no one cares that the tatooed, 'axe you a question speaking', wanna be thugs on the Rutger's team may themselves be giving a wrong impression. If anything why isn't anyone questioning why Rutger's doesn't have more Caucasian or Latino players on the team? It's my tax dollars that go to support Title 9 programs and enforcement. That being the case, I want all Rutger's teams to reflect the demography that most American's wake up with everyday. Perhaps then Imus comments wouldn't have been as offensive. Don't any of the people whining about this cruel injustice realize they have the power right there in their chubby little fists? It's called a remote control. If Imus offend thee, change the channel stupid! I'm not defending what Don said, but I am defending my right to listen to what he says and make my own judgement. I'll be damned if I'll tolerate Al Roker, Al Sharpton, or anyone else to determine who and what I can listen to or view. Maybe it's time that we 'media consumers' take things in our own hands, and establish our own satellite channel. Freedom of speech only works if its free of the tyranny of the minority. Some will argue that the tyranny of the majority is just as bad, but only because they fail to understand the fundamental basis of any democracy. That being 'majority rule'. The unfortunate, tragic really, upshot of this is that these Rutger's players have allowed themselves, albeit willingly, to become 'victims of political correctness' by participating in the patented Sharpton-Jackson brand of race baiting opportunism. It would be interesting to see where the Ladies of the Rutger's basketball team are in ten years time, but I wouldn't take any bets.
Says Kenny: 'sharpton needs to get a life.' Well, if he did, what would he do with the one he has now? And if he shucked that, whose life would he take over? Yours? Bwahahahahahahaha!
you must because you read it
Jesse Jackson called NYC 'Hymietown' and 'full of Hymies' around the time he ran for President. He is a hypocrit in the worst way.
Some people just can't handle the truth.
D-Star Detroit your foolish attitude IS the problem. You have an excuse for everything dont you? Its easier than admitting failure. Its time for the African Americans to 'Man Up' and start accepting responsability for their own actions. The longer you point fingers and whine about every little thing the longer your race will be mired in violence and failure. You literally teach your children to fail with that attitude.
Imus is just a comedian. Just like all the other comedians that paid tons of money for racist humor. Whoopee, big freakin deal.
first to jon, the moron who thinks that these kids from duke got away with rape because of their financial status, you idiot! if the three brain cells in your head weren't fighting with eachother, then maybe you would know that the story this stripper made up was just that, made up. did they hire her for their party, yes. that doesn't mean they raped her, you jerk. take a look at the tawana brawley case, in which another black girl accused 6 white men of assault, rape, abduction, and sodomy, was found to be falsified, and guess who was at the forefront of that mess, Al Sharpton. Al you should drop the reverend from your name because like Jesse Jackson, you are a disgrace to anything holy.
Second, Don Imus i do believe should not have appologized for a joke. THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND WE WERE FOUNDED ON FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Nobody told Malcom X that he couldn't speak in public when he said ' by any means necessary.' Al Sharpton is still on the radio after being found guitly for defamation of character, and still hasn't paid up. Jesse Jackson is still speaking in public even though he wouldn't shake a white womans hand during his presidential run, because of her color.
Lastly to the women at rutgers, it was a joke. if you want to be brave, why don't you come foward and let everyone know what kind of music you are listening to, because i am sure that those words are much more distastful, than those of Imus'. Better yet why not start a coaliton to stop the black on black crime.Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (self- proclaimed leaders of the black community) sure don't seem to care about that. Maybe it's because if the black on black crime stops they will have no more chances to be in the limelight.
I-Fan: 'Enough. This is a travesty. Watching the Iman appologize to the fullest daily has been hard to watch.'
Watch it, I-Fan, watch it and weep! Bwahahahahahahahaha!
Bottom line: Free speech must be protected at all cost ...........Whether we like what is said or not.
I've listened to Imus for about twenty years off and on. Sometimes this has been delightful and other times the station is changed.
Imus uttered something that is not worthy of himself, his family or the great works of charity he has performed or in fact the vast majority of his listeners.
There is a line between his type of entertaining and being offensive. He knows this better than most because he has danced along this line for so long. In this case I wonder why someone did not hit the delay / kill switch.
Nonetheless we are now in the 'I'm sorry' of this news cycle. I hope he does meet with the Rutgers team and I hope they make life difficult enough for him so he will not forget. That should erode a little of his hubris. And, I hope all of the good that can come of this is allowed to seep to the top of this heap.
Beyond this, especially in this day and age of manufactured news, I hope the public breast beaters go back to their lairs.
In truth, Imus's sentence or phrase was despicable but what is equally despicable are the lost souls jumping out of the wood work. The most despicable act of all is the calculation Imus screwed up; its a slow news day and I can one more time get my name in lights.
Where's the uproar when a rapper calls a woman something derogatory???? Until that becomes the norm, I don't want to hear that Imus said something awful. Let's have some self respect across the board and start holding rappers that say negative things accountable just like we want to hold Imus accountable.
hasn't anyone noticed it was the producer of the show that started the comment and imus just repeated it..
also, what happened to our Constitution did it disappear overnight. Our freedom of speech is gone!
that scares me to death.
I am sick to death of Sharton calling the pot black, clean up your house, then your back yard, then your city, then our country.
Hey Jon, your comment is barely english. Learn how to communicate.
Who Cares what Don Imus said....The black Community should be embarrased to have a person like Sharpton representing them. American Black Culture is caught in a desperately self-destructive downward spiral and Al Sharpton is adding negative light to a nearly hopeless situation for that community. Wake up! 'Nappy' is the wrong 'N' word to get so upset about.
It is sad that a 60 year old plus man, a husband, a father, with a forum for a public voice, resorts to the hip hoppers and rappers with which to inform his consciousness and shape his values. One would have hoped and expecated that, by his age, with his life experiences, and, at least, with what he hopes for his own children and expects from them, that he would have made a choice long ago that was more appropriate for his sense of self. It appears his personal growth and development has been arrested rather than expanded. Is it important in his own household that these rappers and hip hoppers he models himself after are 'blocked' or does he and the mother of his children allow them access to these influences? Parents and grandparents all over the country are responsible for screening what influences the children. Someone needs to take responsiblility for this 60 year old, plus, man about what he is exposed to because it comes right out of his mouth with no measure of worth. That is #1. #2, he picked on the wrong people this time. They are not professional athletes; they are not celebrity party hoppers, movie stars, politicians, or otherwise engaged in roles that expose their life and their lifestyles to public scrutiny. They are college students, earning their way through college by playing a neat game of basketball, informing their minds, and securing a value system. He needs to stop himself from all the excuses; he grows weaker, lamer, and more ignorant with each utterance.
Though I don't regularly receive him here, its easy to like Imus for his outrageousness and intellect. He and other shock jocks are the court jesters of the country - a necessary ingredient and a remnant representing what this country was supposed to be about. FREEDOM. For months I've watched and pointed out all the hypocritical thought police forcing various individuals and institutions to recant, confess and apologize for a politically incorrect remark and Mel Gibson was not the beginning. Rev Jackson and Sharpton amongst many, re-resurrect zero careers - guess they're too fat and old to know how to make an honest living.
Imus is cool, and a critical ingredient and, like a canary in a mine, a warning to us all of dwindling freedom. Like him or not. And that bad reputation has given him the money to do the good that he has chosen freely to do. Do the crtics want to continue funding his projects after he is removed?
I'm so glad to see so many good peerceptve responses on all the other angles of this by both blacks and whites out there who see the personal agendas and hypocrisy. That's free speech and hope right there. Imus - no more apologies. NONE.
Another assination in the name of 'Civil Rights'. To attempt to destroy someone's livelyhood over mere words is dispicable. Al Sharpton is a pimp and everyone knows it. Imus has done more for our community then any of these clowns like Sharpton and Jackson. I have no doubt that Imus will continue to do good things even while he's not in the limelight. Rather then sneak around like a slimey reptile that Sharpton is. Imus is a lot more honest then any of those jokers.
I (a white male) am changing my name to 'Whitey'...of course only white people can call me that. If a person of another race calls me that, it could scar me for life and I might end up on Oprah.
If those words are so hurtful, then no one should be allowed to use them. Don't you think the constant use of the same words by black entertainers de-sensitizes the general public? Doesn't the use of the words by blacks make it more likely that people in general are going to use those same words?
Of course it does.
Why doesn't Mr. Sharpton go after the Rappers that degrade women.
Who casts the first stone?
I have heard
Rev Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson make derogatory remarks about 'white people'. When will they apologize to white people and when will they apologize to the Duke University students?
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are a couple of hypocrites and should be censored. Why does the news media put them on the air at all?
What happened to Freedom of Speech. It seems like there is freedom of speech for black people and for the news media. Why should these people receive preferential treatment?
Snoop Dog is obscene and he is not censored. Why not?
Personally, I do not watch Don Imus but I think he should have the same freedoms as the rest of the media. And that includes the Hillary Clinton lies.
Relpy to BROOKSSMART
You are correct. As far as i can research Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are not on record as agains women or fellow black.
Reverend Jacskon is on record as calling all of New York city 'Hymie' town
Keep fighting IMUS. . .Imus could have done more being on the airways, keeping true to his word then being removed from the airways. It seems that there was more old pay-backs aimed at Imus during this time, then taking advantage of the situation and turning it into a positive. The hypocritical aspects of our media make my head spin. How many times have I heard, 'if so and so would just admit his mistake, apologize, and then live up to his/her responsibilities, then all can and will be forgiven and then we all can move forward. We are a forgiving Nation.' I think that the whole of a person should be judged instead of small snippets of ones life. I wonder how many $$ in the LONG TERM will now be lost to those charities that Imus supports and raises money for. Imus must be held responsible and held accountable and he was doing things to right the wrong and promised to do more. More damage will be done by removing him from the airways because he can do something about this, having a public platform to do it from. And yet the real root of the problem in aspects of our society go unchecked and unchanged.
your all morons for feeding this.
Well look what we have here the disrepect of black women and rape of black women been going for hundreds of years sometimes i wonder if black women have accepted these terms by the white man because they need the American system or depended on it so they accept it .The word have been used so many times by hiphop and rap community from way back in the days so we can call our blackwomen hoes and the white man can`t so hoes don`t exist yea there are hoes but most American woman have been reduced to hoes look at the Telivision shows the beauty contest the strip clubs by a society that have sold their souls and the American that is doomed for destruction you greedy bastards your days are numbered America is doomed you white jews are not the real jews you`ll are fake jesus was a black jew the moral decline and the hatred of America is increasing around the world come out of her my people and be not part takers of her sins.
Don Imus is an innocent victim of Blackmail by likes of Liar Sharpton, and Antisemite Jackson. One thing for sure, I'm not watching MSNBC ever again, and not doing any of my shopping at Staples, etc.
Now that were pointing fingers, All Jr. High School and High School administrators(Principals) AND teachers should suspend for 5 days; ANY SCHOOL KID WHO UTTERS THE WORDS 'NAPPY HEAD' OR 'HO' openly in ANY SCHOOL IN THIS COUNTRY. I dare these school officials to try to provide this consequence. I double dare you! Lets stop the problem earlier better than later---If any of you have the guts that is. I haven't seen this dealt with here in New York. Have any of you out there seen this?????
jon (dee-dee-dee),
Your comment on the exotic dancer is pretty ignorant. The dancer's friend that was at the place that night contradicted the dancer's story. The dancer herself even contradicted her own story! Multiple times! The DNA evidence came back negative, there was no other evidence. That is called justice, you idiot, the case must be dropped. Those 'rich' white kids didn't need to pay anyone off, they were innocent and it was proven in a court of law and by the forensic team that worked the case.
Before the case even went to court, the school, the kids, the team, the administration got slammed as if they were guilty. How would you like if that happened to you jon? What if on top of that you had a good job and had some money in your pocket and thus got a double-whammy for being 'rich'? Are you automatically guilty jon?
You can hate rich white kids all you want, but at the end of the day it comes down to justice. And if you 'judge' a case on people's color or economic background, then you are the same a-hole that convincts poor minorities when they can't afford a good lawyer and need to take the hit for the police dept.
um, Jesus is Black... can we have a bit of punctuation? Your run-on sentence is really hard to read.
Imus will survive this and end up looking more classy than he did before this brutal, uncalled for nuke attack on a parking violation.
The other players will only continue to rot. who would most people rely on for truth... Al sharpton or Don Imus. Imus screwed up but he doesn't pander and lie.
Kurt Vonnegut died yesterday and I think this story is one of his last scripts to show the never ending bullshit that humans dig up to hurt each other.
Rest in peace, Kurt
Give 'em hell, Imus
Can anyone figure out what jon said above?
MSNBC without Imus is garbage,
Without freedom of speech might as well throw
Ron Popeil on there to sell pasta machines and knives.
Hopefully Drug companies start hawking prozac, this nation is no longer allowed to think freely...
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are doing more harm to the black community than helping it. All their rhetoric does is further polarize whites and blacks. Think about it, if they didnt fan the flames, what would they do for a job? They are self serving at the expense of their own people.
In the news just moments ago: 'Activist Rev. Al Sharpton met with CBS executives to demand that Imus be fired. 'If NBC can see the light then CBS should see the light and if all those advertisers can see the light then CBS should see the light,' Sharpton told reporters.'
Hypocrite Sharpton kicks butt! Bwahahahahahahahaha!
I listened to the Iman when he was doing outrageous comedy on WNBC in NYC 30 years ago. He's not a spokesman for any community, political party, or race; he's just an entertainer who, in talking for so many years, occasionally says something really stupid (as he did last week).
But here's my question: Since the hip-hoppers claim blacks can call each other any insulting names because it's 'affectionate' among themselves, shouldn't Imus exclude the 2 white women players from his apologies? After all, calling them 'ho's', since he's white too, is just a term of endearment.
PS: Has anyone compared the charitable works of Sharpton and Jackson with that of the I-Man? Actions are always louder than words.
Imus will survive this and end up looking more classy than he did before this brutal, uncalled for nuke attack on a parking violation.
The other players will only continue to rot. who would most people rely on for truth... Al sharpton or Don Imus. Imus screwed up but he doesn't pander and lie.

Imus, like many others continue to call Blacks - Afican Americans - what an onxmoron! African Americans are people born in Africa who emigrated to America and becam citizens. Neither the current so-call 'African Americans' nor their parents emigrated to the USA. They are merely Blacks and should be called just that - no PC is needed where none is appropriate.
By the way...Has Al Sharpton completed his DNA testing and geneolgy to find out whether the White Congressman is part of his family tree?
for anyone who think Imus is the problem, read this article by Jason Whitlock - you'll have remove the extra spaces in the URL to work properly - w w w .kansascity.c o m/182/story/66339.html
Okay people. Imus didn't say Sharpton had to apologize to HIM...
he said Sharpton should apologize to those Duke lacrosse players. As should the good Rev. Jackson.
Note: Neither of them are ordained ministers. They use it as a stage tactic. Their whole idea in this was to make sure everyone knows they can still pull the race card and use it effectively.
I would like to know what racial and sexist slurs have to do with anyone black, white, or the colors of the rainbow being accused of something that they didn't. If the young women lied, believe me it will come around again. There is a book called '30 Day To Taming Your Toungue,' you need is yesterday. I hope that if the young students were innocent, they were dealt with fairly. But there is no if about your actions. As I can recall the paper states that they were exonerated.
There was no gray area in your statement. Stop making excuses and thinking that you are bigger than GOD. This is temporary. It determines what happens next. That goes for black, white...and oh yeah, the colors of the rainbow.
