Will Ferrell has blasted the Oscars for not appreciating comedy.
The 39-year-old comic star believes the efforts of him and his fellow comedians are never appreciated or rewarded by the Academy.
He moaned: "I bet you eventually the Oscars will have a comedy category just like the Golden Globes. I think it's a bit of a cop-out, though. I think they really should just open up and consider comedic performances. I don't know why there have to be separate categories."
The Academy's bias towards drama is not something Ferrell is afraid to air in public either, as he proved with fellow comedian Jack Black when they performed a song on the subject at the Oscar ceremony in February.
Ferrell, who demands up to $20 million a movie, is said to be the highest-paid actor never to have received an Oscar nomination.
He is currently starring as a figure skater in 'Blades of Glory' alongside 'Napoleon Dynamite' actor John Heder.
